Missing Cat...............

Sorry guys, no good news yet...... :((

Louis is still out there somewhere - hopefully wherever he is he is safe. It has been a whole week now and I am really worried. The last 2 days I have been to the Lost dog's home and cattery - so sad all the little darlings lost waiting for their owners to claim them. When the girl opened the door to one of the kennels there was a black cat and my heart sunk for a second I thought it was him. They told me to check in every day just in case, animals come in 24/7.

I went to Louis's vet and they were wonderful and also very concerned, they put his flier up on the wall in the waiting room. I also went to another local vet and did the same.

I have walked the streets again today, knocking on doors and talking to people. People in general are lovely and very willing to help look out for him. I spoke to lots of cat people and got endless stories about their little furry friends. It's a funny thing with cats, they all have different personalities. I have always had a cat in my life and every single one has been different. We have had Louis for nearly 10 years and he is very precious, very independent, intelligent and does what he wants to do not what you want him to do. So I doubt that someone has stolen him.

Kids return to school next Monday, the school holidays are over and people will be returning from holidays. I am hoping that he has been locked in somewhere and will be let out. Can only pray. Hopefully with all the fliers around someone will remember seeing him or at least return him if they have him.

I have offered a reward for his return so we see if that helps.

One neighbour (he knows my cat) called me this morning to see if he was back and to tell me his daughters rabbits had been killed. This is terrible because I was in his backyard 2 days ago when looking for my cat and he showed me the rabbits and her babies. He thinks a fox killed them and wondered if maybe a fox may have got Louis. I don't know if foxes attack domestic cats? We do have possums around here though.

Thank you so much Missy, I am really missing him terribly tonight and feeling very sad. I hate not knowing where he is or if someone has him. I just did a drive around a few blocks even though it's dark, just in case he was wandering around lost.

Your avatar pic looks just like my Louis when he was little, tell me about your him/her

I'm really sorry to hear he's not back yet, fingers crossed you hear something soon.

That's Francesca aka Frankie who is laying on my dh right now as I type. She is his baby and is so precious. Firemen found her and her brothers spring/summer of 2009 in Great Neck LI near my sister's veterinarian clinic and they brought her and her brothers there for care. We don't know what happened to their mother. Her brothers were all adopted and she was left and that was the time we (I was at least) were ready to adopt another cat (after our darling Billy died :(( ).

My dh didn't feel ready yet to adopt but my sister called us and we came and right away Francesca went right to my dh and started eating his hair and then just plopped down in his lap. We spent a few hours there and my dh still wasn't sure if he was ready to adopt another cat as he was still mourning Billy (we will always miss him so much) but I made the decision and here we are. My dh is in love with our darling Francesca and so happy we took the plunge. And we eventually adopted 2 others (by winter of 2009) to keep her company and to save 2 more lives (weren't planning on being a 4 cat household but it was meant to be- they needed us). Frankie follows us around like a puppy and she is full of personality and really gets into trouble. Tommy (last cat we adopted) is her accomplice and they keep us on our toes that's for sure!

Thank you for asking about her especially now. I wish I could offer some helpful advice but it seems all bases are covered.
My heart goes out to you Monny. We are all praying for Louis's safe return soon!!!

I added a pic of the 2 troublemakers (looking so innocent!) for you.

Thank you too Lottie, hopefully some news by tomorrow. The fliers are up and posted around so I am praying someone will see them and contact us. Your cat looks gorgeous is he/she a siamese seal point?

I haven't replied to this thread because it's so heartbreaking for me to think about. Sending you lots of kitty dust and hoping some good news comes your way soon. My thoughts are with you. Positive vibes coming your way too!

Missy, they are adorable - Frankie looks just like my Louis, if I could upload a pic I would. Have to get my daughter to help. I haven't quite got used to this Mac Book Pro yet.

So you have 4 babies, so nice of you to adopt them all. We have 3, it's like feeding time at the zoo when they get fed. Louis special bowl is sitting on the sink, I don't won't the other two using it, silly isn't it, but it's his. Anyway, it's been nice talking with you. From one cat lover to another, I'll say goodnight and hopefully tomorrow I might have some good news to tell :wavey:

Thank you Monny. It's been nice chatting with you as well though I wish it was under better circumstances.
LOL feeding time at the zoo. Yes, I can see that. And I totally understand you wanting Louis's bowl just for Louis.
I am sure you thought of this already but have you left food out on your porch? Everyone here at PS is sending out safe return vibes/dust for Louis!!

Goodnight Monny and sweet dreams- when you wake up I hope Louis is back with you at home!

Thanks Monnyjay, he is a blue colourpointed british short hair and very lazy! Years and years ago one of our old cats went missing for a couple of days, I know how anxious the waiting is. He did just stroll back in as though nothing had happened in the end.

Missy your cats are lovely - and clearly real characters!

I don't think a fox would attack a cat. We have lots of fox in the neighborhood and two of our cats go outside and they've never had any problems. I did, however, once catch Margaret stalking a fox and she was very annoyed when I interceded. Hang in there.

Sending thoughts and prayers your way....hoping for you to check back in soon because you have good news!

Thank's for the well wishes Siamese 3, Lulu, Lottie and SaralovesJS

Unfortunately, no sign of him yet, so have no good news to share :(( I miss him terribly; I am not giving up hope that he will come back, but it is a week now and has never strayed for this long :((

oh dear. It is sounding a little worrisome... but there are always stories on the news about how pets have wandered away from home and then returned weeks/months even years later! And across country too!!! Still keeping fingers crossed and positive vibes headed your way :)) hoping for good news soon!

I am so sorry! I know how scary this is. Hope he comes back today.

Just saw this thread. I hope that he comes home to you. I have 2 cats myself and can only imagine how worried you must be.

All these people houses and cars, etc., look the same to cats. They really do. Maybe open up a can or two of his favorite food and put them outside the house? The smell might help lead him back.

One of my best friends lost her cat, and it turned out that it was stuck inside a chimney that was being repaired. Poor thing was stuck for two weeks while the workmen went to work on another job. The workmen came back, opened the chimney, and out came the cat.

Have you tried walking around the construction sites in your area? Calling out and listening carefully? Be aware of locked sheds, locked trucks, garages (lot of people on vacation this time of year) that kind of thing.

I think listening carefully is the key, retrace his usual routes and listen for a mew.

Oh I am so sorry to read this post. I am sending lots of prayers your way. Don't give up hope; my family has had a few cats go missing over the years and all but a couple came home eventually(keep in mind we have had a lot bc my parents take in every stray that comes their way lol). One of ours was stuck in a chimney too. He was filthy and very angry when he finally got out and came home. Like Ilander said, check any construction sites and knock on your neighbours doors to have them check sheds and whatnot. It's a horrible feeling :(( Lots of dust for your kitty's return.

Just wanted to say I'm still thinking of you and Louis.
