Wedding mini dress shopping rant

Anyone else feel like they don''t know what looks good on them when it comes to wedding dresses? I''m pretty good at picking regular clothes that look flattering on me and I think I have a reasonably good figure for clothes. For some reason, whenever I try on wedding dresses they make me look far dumpier and lumpier than I am. I''m tall and slim, what''s the deal? Maybe wedding dresses are cut for a more hourglass figure? I don''t know ... All of the dresses that I gravitate towards because they would normally be flattering on me just don''t look good.

Just a note, I can''t really go for the fitted corset top/full skirt thing because it doesn''t really fit with my wedding ... But that style is so flattering on so many body types that I''m wondering if I should change the look I''m going for.

I just never expected shopping for a dress to be so frustrating since I normally love to shop for clothes.

I had the same problem... everything looked like it added 20 pounds to the midsection and made me look 3 feet tall (I''m 4''11" and they accentuated my shortness). Actually it wasn''t until I started trying on bridesmaid dresses for myself that I found many that were flattering... it was odd.
