They're now saying that this huge winter storm WILL hit Atlanta and have upped accumulations to 4-7" minimum in metro Atlanta, which is then forecasted to be topped with 1/4" to 1/2" of ICE. How not awesome is the ice part?

I pretty much assume the grocery stores will be a mad house today and tomorrow before it hits tomorrow night. 1/2" of snow shuts this 'hood down, I can only imagine what this will do.

The good news is I office at home and while I do have an appt on Monday, I can reschedule for later in the week so I'm not hitting the roads if this puppy strikes. The kid in me is excited for snow though! And I just got a new SLR camera for work today, so I'll get to play with it in our winter wonderland.

Who else is in the path of this storm? Are ya ready for it?!?

I'm in Marietta and went to the store this morning, not because of the storm, but because I had to get a few things for the recipe I am making and it was a ZOO! I don't normally go on Saturday morning, so maybe this was a typical weekend morning, but I doubt it.

Keeping our eyes on it and hoping that school isn't shut down on Monday! ;)

I've always wondered how a half inch of snow manages to bring a halt to everyone...

I am in se PA and it snowed about 2-3 inches here yesterday and this morning it started snowing again at 8 am and is still snowing at 4:17 pm. (very very light snow). We are expecting another storm here Tuesday night into wednesday morning.

Looks pretty, but we still have another 2 months of winter to go. I am so looking forward to spring!

What is going on in this country?!? Vegas gets snow, Atlanta gets snow and ice, and Michigan has barely had anything.... Where's my SNOW DAY?!?!?!?!?!

Stay safe, all of you who are in the path!

please don't send your snow to NYC..we've already had more than 20 inches since Dec 26th..I'm done and ready for spring :naughty:

Last year we had 2 feet on Christmas and over 5 feet during the whole winter..now we have like..a couple inches. Somehow it's all been diverted to outlying areas???

I am ready! I didn't go shopping, but I have plenty of food from last week's visit to Trader Joe's and more importantly, I checked the liquor cabinet and beer stock and I am GOOD TO GO!

Bring it on!

LOL

You think Atlanta's nuts with some snow--I'm in Columbus, about 90 miles south of you. We get a flurry, and even if it doesn't stick, EVERYTHING CLOSES, and people drive like they're guaranteed to spontaneously combust if they go over 12 mph. People here act like DH is nuts because he'll drive in it. Hello? He's a New Yorker, and we spent two months in England last year about this time, so yeah, he's good to go!

After a winter/spring season of apocalypse (record-setting blizzard, floods, and hailstorm, along with the usual robust tornadoes) we are getting about nothin' here in Oklahoma this winter. It's been postively mild, with today just gorgeous and crisp, but not really cold. However, we are about bone-dry, and could use the precip. They just downgraded out snow chance from 60 to 40%. I hope we get some though, because we really need the water....

I'm ready! :wavey: I can't believe that there are Atlanta people on these boards. Anywho, the west-side of town has loads of underground power so we rarely lose power. I'm not really too worried. I have lots of Christmas candy left so we won't starve.

ETA: So when are the GA PSers going to have a get together? Hmmmmmmm?

Yenny -- I just laughed when I read your post because I had seen the word "zoo" in your post and when I first read it, I thought you wrote that you went to the zoo this morning to get a few things for a recipe you were making. I thought, huh, I wonder what she's making?

I hope the weather won't be severe where you are.

My thoughts exactly, Tuckins!

We're supposed to get snow on after midnight on Tuesday into Wednesday (northern New England). They're calling for 6", although some channels don't want to put a total on it since it's still so far out. I want more snow than that! 6" is nothing!

It's funny.... A lot of people complain after the snow has fallen, but I absolutely love snow storms! (On weekdays ;) )
.... as long as the power doesn't go out!

LOL Zoe! I'm sure that the zoo was a much more peaceful place than the grocery store yesterday!

I'm in NC, and we're supposed to get more winter weather tomorrow and Tuesday. Apparently, it is supposed to be snow, topped off with freezing rain. I have heard 2-4" is expected, but you never can really tell - they predicted that we would get a dusting during our last storm, but we got several inches. Then, they predicted winter weather this past Friday, and we got nothing at all.

I'm stressed out, but excited at the same time. I could really use a break from work because it has been soooo stressful, but on the other hand, I have a lot that I have to get done tomorrow, and I would like to finish it before the storm starts - but I'm not sure whether or not I'll be able to.

Count me in. I am an hour south of Savannah, but have a condo in Atlanta downtown, so Atlanta would be doable in the summer. No snow down here. I teach, and once a year, we have a snow day, and a company comes and covers the playground with snow for us, we have ramps, bring down dozens of snow saucers from in the attic, the whole bit. That is set for two weeks from now, and it is my kind of snow day--prescheduled!

It's hard to believe that a day that has started off so beautiful is the beginning of the end of the world as Atlanta knows it.....

I took this photo out of the front of our loft a little bit ago.

It's already starting to cloud up. I heard Delta is already cancelling flights "just in case". God I love the south!

What a difference a few hours makes. Just took this shot out my front door.

We have four or five inches already in vinings! Wohooooooooo

Pink Tower -- that's a great idea! It sounds like a lot of fun for the kids since you don't get snow.
