Hey all,

I''m wondering if the more tech-minded among us can please shed some light
on my situation:
I am running Office 2007, however for some reason I only have Outlook Express available.
I don''t know why I don''t have access to the full version of Outlook, although I''m sure it''s a very simple explanation

After using the proper Outlook at work I would really like to be able to use it at home too -
does anybody know if/how I can access it or "upgrade" from Outlook Express?
I''ve done some googling but so far no love..

I''m (clearly) clueless on this so would appreciate any input.

many thanks
aj.

Not all versions of Office 2007 come with Outlook from what I can tell. What version do you have? Standard, Professional, Home & Student, small business?

Can you do a search on c:\ for outlook.exe?

Thanks for answering Treefrog.
Yes, I figured it was due to the version we have - I just checked, its Home & Student 2007.
I did the search you suggested and no results to display..

I guess what I''m asking, is there a way for me to get the proper Outlook as an "add on" or upgrade of some sort..?

cheers

Sorry aj... that''s the one package that does not come with Outlook. You can download a copy but it''s only good for 60 days.

Outlook Express isn''t bad. I haven''t used it at home in years though. The only option I know of is to buy it independently... it seems to run from about $70 -- $110.

You''re quite welcome. I use Outlook at work and know why you like it.

Actually, I''m a tech wus.

Though I have outlook, my local ISP tells me they only support Outlook Express reliably, so that''s what I''ve used quite a long time,

How are they different?

Also, our family does have several e-mail addresses among us. Now, anyone writing to any of our addresses...the mail just gets dumped into the one box.

With either Express or Outlook, can these address be managed, and go into different places?

Sorry to attempt to thread jack.

Ira,

I''m not sure about Outlook Express but in Outlook, you can set up rules. You can set a rule for each person so that incoming mail gets moved to a pre-determined folder.

From Outlook:
Tools-->Rules and Alerts
Under the E-mail Rules tab, select New Rule
Select Start from a blank rule
Select Check messages when they arrive and click Next
There are probably several ways to do this but I''m thinking you should check "where my name is in the To or Cc box"
put a check in that box
Select Move it to the specified folder
In the lower portion labeled Step 2, click the highlighted "specified" and choose Ira or whatever folder you want your mail to go to.
(You would need to have each person do this)

You could probably use "sent to people or distribution list" similarly.

Again, this is for Outlook. I am not sure if Outlook Express has something similar.

Differences are here:
