I caught a glimpse of Mel's new girlfriend (Russian singer) on TV last night. She seems to be about half his age (Good for him), not so good for her!

I know alot of women love Mel, but I don't find he's aging very well, and have never found him to be overly attractive. I just thought they seemed like an odd looking couple, but I guess in Hollywood anything goes! They didn't shy away from the camera, and looked happy, holding hands, and they walked down the carpet. Not sure how anyone else feels..but I thought it seemed as though they were too public about the relationship, and you'd think they'd be a little more secretive considering the divorce was just filed last week??

The divorce was filed recently, but apparently Mel and his wife had been living separate lives long before the divorce was filed.... I''ll have to find the article I read that in. It said something about years...

I think it shows very little class parading around a new girlfriend 1 week after the divorce. Ugh, never really liked him....

I just happened to notice this title. I found it interesting, when I read about her, that she has a son with Timothy Dalton who is now, apparently, 66. I always loved him, long before he played James Bond! He played the young French king in, "The Lion in Winter" with Katharine Hepburn and Peter O''Toole! At any rate, she (Mel Gibson''s woman friend) certainly has had her pick of handsome men...even if Mel Gibson is no longer as handsome as he once was!

PS-I cannot abide Mel Gibson. I just think he is great looking!

He never did anything for me looks-wise or any other way. The kindest thing I can say about him is that he didn''t make a fool of himself when he did ''Hamlet''.

Mel Gibson''s a nutball.

Once upon a time I like Mel Gibson...

But then there was the whole anti-semitic thing, and it ruined him in my eyes.

Me too. Once he started acting all crazy I got turned off.

I do love him in the Lethal Weapons and I still love me some Braveheart!

She''s young enough to be his kid. Stupid choice for him.

He''s idiot enough to believe the Holocaust didn''t happen. Stupid choice for her.

Another Hollywood romance with a shelf life of approximately . . . . . times up!

I agree that Timothy Dalton is a whole lot more interesting than Mel Gibson and I think it's a pit Oksana didn't stay with him! He makes for more interesting reading than Mel! I quote from the article:

"Oksana Grigorieva, who trained as a concert pianist and has also acted, has been with Timothy Dalton for four years and is the mother of his 2-year-old son. He says he waited so long to have a child because of contraception." (He then goes on to talk about how having a child has made him view all humans differently.)

I remembered that he and Vanessa Redgrave had had a thing, but it had gone out of my mind. She, also, has had her share of beautiful men! Franco Nero is certainly gorgeous. Does anyone remember him riding onto the scene as Sir Launcelot in, "Camelot"? She (Vanessa) was, "Mary, Queen of Scots" in a movie in which Timothy Dalton was cast as a snivelling tool of Elizabeth I. I wonder if that is where they met.... (I am an old movie buff.)

Uhmm... remind me again... why is it we're supposed to get excited about celebrity relationships?

Ditto! Braveheart is one of my favorite movies...but, IRL he is a total dufus!

I don''t care at all about Mel Gibson and certainly don''t think much of him leaving his family or having a young girlfriend.

But Holly, where are you getting that he doesn''t believe the Holocaust happened? I distinctly recall reports that his father said that, not him. But if you have other information, I''ll take a look at it. I just don''t think what anyone''s parents think can be transferred to the child.

Tim Dalton is definitely sexy!

But old guys...

not since my friend who married an older guy finally broke down and specifically told me how often he bothers to ''show affection''...no, it''s not once a fortnight...

I''ve always felt sorry for his wife. Mel Gibson seems so full of himself. He''s racist, egocentric, a cheater, kept his wife and brood hidden while he was obviously out partying, has his own church on his property...just a piece of work. When he started making Passion of the Christ I think we were able to see some screws popping loose.

I sure wish they''d come out with a new batch of actors and actresses. My husband loves the Mad Max movie but other than that, can''t say I''ve ever been happy to see a Mel Gibson movie. Now, Jason Statham, Gerard Butler or Vin Diesel.... yum. Hugh Jackman, who clearly adores his wife is a better actor by far. I have to say, when I read an article about how much an actor loves his wife it makes me appreciate their acting so much more.

I don't recall where, but he publicly agreed with his father. And to clarify, his dad didn't say there was NO Holocaust; just that it wasn't as big and bad as has been reported.

I'd have to do some research to find it. It wasn't done in an interview, it was a recorded moment that caught him being candid.

Ditto, BIG TIME. Even implying that it is OK to deny the Holocaust, no matter whether its your dad or whoever doing it = TOTALLY NOT OK. My DH used to be a big fan but when that came out we mutually decided we want nothing whatsoever to do with Mel Gibson''s movies or anything else he ever does in his career

Diamondseeker, Mel never came out and said he agreed with his father, but he refused to openly say that he disagreed either, and was generally seen as being supportive of his father''s views without actually coming out and directly denying the Holocaust.

There have also been numerous incidents/reports of anti-semitic and racist comments that he has made, often under the influence of drink, but that doesn''t make it OK in my book (the being drunk part).

I think I read that Gibson''s ex-wife kicked him out after his public anti-semitic rant. Kudos to her! And good riddance.

Nah Deb, scorn is a little strong. I just don't get the fascination with celeb lives and their loves, especially marginal celebs like Mel Gibson and likely fleeting loves.

On the other hand, I can be endlessly fascinated with what those same celebs (or at least their loves) wear on the red carpet!

Mel Gibson''s a nutball.

Yep. He proved it to the world when he was arrested. He has serious issues about respecting other people.

I agree. He''s one movie star that I''ve never had any interest in.

He''s a raving alcoholic anti-semitic idiot. We care who he dates why?

Mrs. Gibson will be laughing all the way to the bank and good for her.

i totally agree with you all in that i think his wife has had a lot to bear for many years. he''s battled alcoholism for decades, and any wife who has had to live with that deserves a medal in my book. but just to clarify a few things...

his father denied the holocaust - not mel. mel and his wife have been separated for 3 YEARS - not one week. he probably only decided to file divorce proceedings when he also decided he wanted to move on, relationally. he is 53 years old - and this new woman is 38 - not a spring chicken, and only young enough to be his daughter if he was getting pretty frisky pretty young! (there were 12 years between my parents, so, frankly, 15 doesnt seem too outrageous to me they''re not children, either of them.) and i think it''s a stretch VRBeauty to call him a marginal celebrity! he was voted Hollywood''s most powerful man on more than one occasion, he owns 2 movie studios and one recording studio, produced hollywood''s highest grossing film only a couple of years ago and he''s still generally considered to be able to headline a movie.

does this make him a good guy? hardly. i think he''s anti-semitic and an alcoholic - an ugly combination. he also strikes me as being incredibly arrogant. but i think it''s always good to be careful with rhetoric - just in the interests of accuracy. and he definitely isnt the only alcoholic, arrogant racist in this country, that''s for sure! the best path forward, if you dont like him - and i dont - is just to avoid his movies. which is exactly what i do. frankly, i think he''s the new tom cruise when it comes to anti-popularity - and the only way to hurt either of them and to send a message of disapproval is in their hip pocket.

(just for reference, his brother (the one that does the voiceovers) is married to the sister of a friend of mine, so i''ve always paid a tiny bit more attention to the things pertaining to him)
