Mediterranean from the LIW board--

Good topic of a post for me, since I CAN''T seem to find the ones I want anywhere in the world!!

I want: open, strappy silver sandals. They HAVE TO be real leather, the HAVE TO have one, single, skinny, strap across the toes (no sequins, no rhinestones, no bows, no multiple straps). The MUST have a flat, flat sole (as in, NO platforms, whatsoever. Not even the tiniest 1/4" of platform)

The MUST have an ankle-strap. A skinny, unadorned one (again, no rhnestones, no bows, no decorations) and the buckle has to be plain, too. Plus, the heel CAN''T be shorter than 3.5." I like super-high heels (but not platforms). Stilettos, I guess those are? When there''s no platform?

Ideally, they''d be strappy and bare where my achilles tendon is, the back of my ankle? I''d like to have the skinny strap criss-cross back there, as opposed to havng a solid pice of leather that the ankle-strap loops through.

I just re-read this little novel. DAYYYYUM, I''m picky. No wonder I haven''t found the shoes.

I have a hard time with bridal shoes, because I personally don''t like fabric shoes, and I *really* dislike satin as a fabric. It''s just not my taste. Even my wedding dress doesn''t have a single thread of satin anywhere on it.

I think I''d be able to compromise a *smidge* on the "no decorations" rule and the "more than one strap over the toes" rule...and if I''m really forced, could deal with the "material at the back of my ankle" but everything else is non-negotiable.

I''m a dork

I''m going to do a search for you and see what I can come up with. I figured I''d post this and everyone else can try to help you too. I think I have a good idea of what you want in mind, so I''ll see if I can find it...

(BTW, because of this search, I just bought a pair of shoes I''ve been eying for about 6 months now--on sale for $50 from $98. Couldn''t argue with that!)

Stuart Weitzman immediately comes to mind as a designer who would make such a thing. Here is a shoe that I believe satisfies all of your requirements: Stuart Weitzman "Singlesbar" at Zappos. And here is a search for silver Stuart Weitzman sandals with high heels.

I didn't follow any budgets for these, but if it's really expensive (over $100) I'll post the price too.

Not quite what you're looking for, 3.25 inches

Badgley Mischka embellished T-straps $560

Embellished Casadei sandals-$624

Double toe straps Ralph Lauren

Charles David Slingback $215

Has a funky bow on the toe strap $106

Embellished w/Satin upper (figured I'd post it anyway) 3.25inches $139

Stuart Weitzman T-strap $216

Hmmmm....Not seeing anything perfect--I think the Casadei's are the closest in shape but really expensive, embellished and too many straps. I'll keep looking though.

I've been a luker for a while now and this site was super helpful when I was planning my wedding so I wanted to come out of lurkdom to share my wedding reception shoes which I think match all of your requirement expect the one strap across the toe part, there are two very delicate criss cross straps. They're the Jimmy Choo Juliet sandals and a little on the pricey side at $650

YAAAAAA-HOOOOOOOO

THESE ARE THE SHOOOOOOES!!!!

FREKECHILD, you are the BOMB-DIGGITY for starting this thread, and for coming up with so many options right out of the starting gate (those Casadei''s were pretty enough for me to toss the rule book. They''re gorgeous! You have fabulous taste...)

And then I saw the JULIETS!!

AS close to perfect as I have seen, bee* & Reyang

Reyang: when I switch from the UK Jimmy Choo page over to the USA Jimmy Choo page, they show up as $490 (and some change) so they''re not as much of a kidney-punch to the wallet as the $625!!!

I''m thinking it will be OK, because, really, look at them!!!! They have nothing on them that really says "Bride Shoe" so I can re-wear them (often. Like, till they fall apart).

They''re not satin-shoes-dyed-black (which would kinda mean I could only wear them for evening, or very dressy stuff) They don''t have a lot of embellishment (same issue: very very fancy event-only shoes).

These are cool enough not to compete with the embellishment on the wast-line of my dress, they are not satin, which would have looked sort of wonky competing with the flowy, matte, chiffon fabric of the skirt-part of the dress.

They''re also simple and classic enough to look nice for more than just a year, and with a pair of nice, sharp tailored black pants, or a simple pencil-skirt, or even dark jeans. Versatile. Simple. And dressy enough for the gown I chose.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!

PS--THEY HAVE MY SIZE!!!!!

Hole-in-the-wallet time!!!

Mediterranean - Glad I could be of service! I decided last minute to change into a silver evening gown for my wedding reception and had already purchased a pair of ivory Jimmy Choos (which I got for a steal $199 from Nordstrom Rack) for the ceremony which of course didn''t match....so I had to go off and buy another pair of Jimmy Choos...oh darn

Fan-stinking-tastic! I'm so happy I could help you Med!!!! Seriously! And those JCs are exactly what I had in my head as what you were looking for!!

Yay!!! Alls well that ends well!!!

I just wish I could afford them too...

**UPDATE**

I saw the "Smooth" style on the JC website, and they''re exactly the "Juliet" style, but they''re 4" instead of 3.5" and I''m kind of a "Higher-the-better" girl with the heels, so called the 800 number and had them switch my "Juliet''s" for "Smooth''s"

Again, you guys KICK MAD BUTT!!!

Frekechild, the Goddess of Shoes briefly alighted upon Earth and sprinkled her magic shoe dust on my wedding!!!

Pics of the shoes in 2-3 days (ship time, according to the site) and pics of the shoes WITH dress in December-ish.

Although, if I''m on the same side of town as the bridal salon anytime soon, I''m going to make them let me put on the sample and I''m going to try on the shoes w/them.

..just for you guys....because we know how worthless certain threads are without pics, LOLOL

Just something I noticed, the "Smooth" style is in satin. I just wanted to make sure you noticed that before the shoes were shipped out. I hope it's ok, because those shoes are AMAZING.

I want a pair.

And I like my new title. Thank you.

That they were my size was pretty dang miraculous, I must say!

Fantastic! Ok, I was worried.

Don''t you love finding an item that is the last in your size?! I love that feeling...it''s like, "Hahahahaha! I got it before you did, take that!"

I''m a dork...

Not so much a dork....but I would venture to guess that you probably kick some serious butt on E-Bay....
