Any recommendations for exceptional wedding dress alterations? I just bought a designer gown and am hesitant to hand it off to just anyone....

Did you buy your gown from a salon?
I also bought my Amsale as a sample from a salon, they gave me a few recommendations for both dry cleansers and tailors.
Can you call them and ask for some in your area?

I bought my dress at Carine''s and their seamstress seams very capable. I am getting only a few alterations done including shortening but I am also getting a rather complicated bustle done, just b/c the way the dress is made. I am doing my second fitting next week, so I can tell you the first round of alterations went then, but I have heard good things...

While I haven't used her myself so I can't give my personal experience, a few of my brides (I'm a wedding photographer) have recommended her to me and I know she is also recommended by the Vera Wang salon. Suri in Vienna, VA. (703) 281-8691. I was planning to use her myself and even met with her, but ended up getting a dress from a salon that did alterations on-site. She seemed to know what she was talking about, but since I didn't end up getting to use her services, that's the limit of my experience. Hope that helps!
