I don''t really have any advice. It''s been 9 years since i did my Bschool applications. I really couldn''t tell you what I wrote about when I did mine (and probably wouldn''t want to be reminded anyway). I think the best thing to so in those cases is just to sit down and start writing. It''ll come to you and after reworking a couple of drafts you''ll be happy with it. You''ll be less stressed when you have something on paper to build on.
Others may disagree with me but I''ve never thought that a school would overlook a qualified candidate (with a solid GPA and GMAT, work experience, etc.) because of WHAT they said in an essay. I think it''s really more about HOW you say it. They want to see critical thinking and writing abilities and all that good stuff.
So... I''m not sure if I''ve been any help at all but... GOOD LUCK!!!!.....Bschool is tough (it was the first time in my life I ever had to study) but it was also very rewarding and I think my MBA means more to me because I had to work so hard for it.
Sounds like you have the bases covered. Make sure you do not need letters of recommendation as well.
As far as the essay *cringe*, if it a biography type, make sure you really cover why obtaining your Masters important to you and how you conquer challenges (give examples).
Most schools use some type of weight on your GMAT scores using your GPA as a multiplier, you might check and see what the schools need your scores to be. There are practice exams online.
Thanks - I do have my recommenders lined up as well!
As for the GPA/GMAT, I''m feeling pretty comfortable with those - the main issue is that I of course picked really competitive schools to apply to (ones that see a lot of management consultants with great GPAs, GMATs and extra curricular activities, etc.) so in the essay I have to give them a good sense of who I am and why I would be a fit for that school...
