Married ladies, has your ring size changed during the years?

Re: Married ladies, has your ring size changed during the ye

My mom is probably the only person I know (and the exception to the rule) whose ring size has never changed in 42 years of marriage. She's had 2 kids and gained a substantial amount of weight from age 30-40. She's worn her size 7, 18k YG very thick wedding band all those years and never had it sized. It's VERY wide, probably 10-12mm. I think her finger just adapted to the ring, honestly.

My e-ring was a size 4.75 when we got married. 15 years and three children later, I am a 5 to 5.25. At one point I was up to a 6, but I have lost some weight.

My varies from 6 to 8 depending on time of year and my weight.

Re: Married ladies, has your ring size changed during the ye

My ring size was 3.5 when I got married. 6 years and 2 kids later I'm about a 3.75 although my set is currently a size 4. I've recently lost weight so I may re-size to a 3.75 in the spring/summer.

I went up a full size and a 1/4 since high school.. 1/2 a size was after my children.

Re: Married ladies, has your ring size changed during the ye

My ring size hasn't changed for the 6 years that I've been married, well except they were very snug during the two pregnancies.

Glad you decide to get what fit you now. I would hate for you to get a size, anticipating that your finger will get bigger and then it doesn't.

Re: Married ladies, has your ring size changed during the ye

My ring size went up about a 1/4 size after the pregnancy. Even though I'd only gained about 5 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight, it was apparently all in my fingers. I finally had my rings resized, then lost the last 5 lbs and now they're a bit loose again, so I guess I'm back to my pre-pregnancy size.

Yes, my ring size went DOWN a lot.
My wedding ring (I was married 29 years ago) is a size 8 and its not resizeable due to the style and I now wear size 6.25. I have to wear those rubber thingies or else get the jeweller to put that horse shoe thing in. Neither is truly comfortable.
My engagement ring is size 7 1/2.
I was a little heavier when I got married than now but not a terrific amount--maybe 15 pounds heavier? Then I gained a bunch of weight while having kids but afterwards went to this wonderful program called Overeaters Anonymous and have been (slightly thinner) than when I got married for about 25 years now.
Anyway, the point is that I would strongly suggest NOT getting a ring that you can't resize, whether you go up or down its still a pain.

Yes. My ering was a 4.5 in 1987. When I reset my stone for my 20th anni, I had it made a 5.25.

Re: Married ladies, has your ring size changed during the ye

Nope. I'm a consistent 4.25.

Re: Married ladies, has your ring size changed during the ye

I went from a size 5.5 down to a 5, after 11 years of marriage and two kids. It had nothing to do with weight because I've always been pretty stable in weight (except during pregnancy). My theory is that my hands are "aging" and losing their baby fat. I'll be turning the big 4-0 this year!

I forgot to add that I did not size down any rings, because my knuckles stayed the same. I just wear more rings stacked together when it's cold to prevent spinning.

Re: Married ladies, has your ring size changed during the ye

I will give my mother's experience since I'm nowhere near old enough or married enough to comment

Recently I asked my mother for her old engagement ring so my sis and I could make it into a traveling pendant for the two of us (my parents were married for 15+ years and divorced like 9 years ago?) and she gave it to me. Since we are the same ring size now (~6.25), I thought I would just throw it on. Well, it didnt go over my knuckle. I asked my sister who is about a 5.25 if she fit - NOPE - didnt fit over HER knuckle. It fits loosely on my pinky which I think is a 4.25 so that sucker is probably a 4.75-5 which means my mother's size went up over 1.25 in less than thirty years with no significant weight difference from her size then and her size now. Clearly she wore the ring through having 2 kids but sometime between like 2002 and 2008, her finger blew up.

Life is crazy. I really hope my finger doesnt get 1.25 sizes bigger. But I will accept it...as well as a larger diamond to counter DSS

4 kids and my ring size hasn't changed from 4.25, BUT I injured my knuckle and it makes putting on my eternities difficult. I've gotten a few recently at about size 5, since it doesn't matter if eternity rings spin.

Re: Married ladies, has your ring size changed during the ye

I have a plain band from way back when and after 20 years, it still fits (size 4.25) perfectly on the same finger after children and all. That said, my mother's wedding band does not fit her anymore. I think her knuckles got bigger over time and she's very petite.

Re: Married ladies, has your ring size changed during the ye

I have had the same size for my wedding ring finger {size 6}, but my right hand ring finger started out as a 6, but due to age and arthritis has gone up to a 7. My largest size is the middle finger of my right hand--size 7 1/2 or an 8 depending on the shank of the ring.
