I always use chopsticks when I have chinese food--I learned how to use them when I was a kid. Also, I''m with TGal that most people I see use a fork weird. Fork in the left hand, people! The right hand is for the knife. It''s a far more efficient way to eat.

I feel strange when I don''t use chopsticks for Chinese food. I bought a few pairs for my house for those occasions when I forgot to request them when ordering out, etc.

down to the last grain of rice in the bowl fool

Heck yes I can.

......but when I can''t get a good grip on a piece of food, I stab it with one of the chopsticks and only pretend I''m gripping it. Shhh! It''s a secret.

My mom taught me to use chopsticks from a very young age. I remember whining about it and grumbling for a fork...which she wouldn''t let me have. But now I am proficient!

I learned how to use chopsticks on my 7th birthday when my parents took me out for sushi. I''m an old pro now!!

This seems like a no-brainer given the huge popularity of sushi places in most urban towns in the US.

People have HAD to learn to use chopsticks to appear "cool".

are you questioning my chopstick abilities?
3.gif
yes !!!

try picking up a marble with a pair of chopsticks
25.gif
i''am one of the very few that can do it.
16.gif
you would be surprise by how often i see (even Chinese) people holding a pair of chopsticks the improper way. my wife would be a good example, she crosses her chopsticks like the letter X
14.gif

btw; most of the time i''d use fork and plate to eat Chinese food unless i''m eating noodles.
Too easy.
oh yeah ? not with the wooden square type. try to do it with the round plastic ones.
9.gif
OK, you got me. Those long plastic chinese ones are a killer. The only thing worse is the Korean skinny metal ones. Can you do it with those?

My mom taught me to use chopsticks when I was really little. My parents met in college while living in an international student dorm (both my parents were American farm town kids and just really loved being surrounded by different cultures), so the first thing the American students learned from their roomies/floormates was how to eat with chopsticks and what real ramen tastes like.

hmm...i have never use the metal ones.

Well, I''m decent with my chopsticks, but I''m actually not a huge fan of Chinese food - I use my chopsticks mostly on Japanese food

You got me. I eat mine with a fork.

LOL, me too. I don''t know how to hold chopsticks properly and I finally gave up.
39.gif

I don''t believe in work. I eat my food with forks and will only drive automatic cars
9.gif

<~~~ That lil guy right there can use chopsticks quite well!

I''m ok with them, but I''m no Karate Kid. I prefer using a fork though. When I''m forced, I will use them. Usually sushi restaurants offer chopsticks only.

Oh yeah, and I learned how to use them on Vietnamese food. Yum yum yum!!!

Unless you''re a lefty!

I''ll admit...I use a fork. It''s faster that way, and food is less likely to spill all over my lap!

Nope, I love chinese food but don''t know how to use the chopsticks. I use a fork and spoon..

Nope, i use a fork (runs and hides). lol I do love sushi!!!

FREKE, which is your favorite Vietnamese restaurant!?!?! I BIG PUFFY HEART LOVE Vietnamese food. mmmmmmmm
3.gif

Skippy! We have to go have Vietnamese sometime then! My favorite would probably be Que Huong (right next to the gem store!) but I liked 2000 Millenium too. I miss Cafe O--that was my quick fix place, and I was so sad when they closed it down. You?

I learned as a very little girl. I cannot remember eating chinese food with a fork.

Oh I miss Cafe O too, soooo yummy

I love Pho #1 and Cafe Dalat
18.gif
Someone else told me 2000 is delicious too!!! We will have to do that. I think my hubby loves Que Huong, on Central and Louisiana in a strip mall? I love lemon grass chicken!! Well you will have to sit next to someone who uses a fork. LOL
9.gif
2.gif

Yes! Que Huong is in that strip mall and always looks kind of seedy, but it''s SO GOOD. I need to get FI to go sometime. He had Vietnamese for the first time in Vegas in December, and he LIKED IT. Woot!

We will have to go for sure! I haven''t had it since Vegas, and I LOVE IT! When are you available woman?!

If it comes on a plate, I use a fork while my American friends use chopsticks and roll their eyes at me. Rice is NOT meant to be eaten on a plate, darn it! They are the same people who put heaps of sugar in Pu-erh tea (
23.gif
), so they can kiss my you know what.
To be fair, I''m sure Italians will be horrified at the pasta dishes that I enjoy.

I prefer the thin shorter Japanese chopsticks, but of course that''s only because I''m used to it. Then I prefer the Korean metal kind over the thick plastic Chinese stuff.
3.gif

I learned when I was very young, using the rubber band method
3.gif

Even though I''m proficient with it, I use a fork for Chinese and Thai food. Japanese I use chopsticks. It''s just easier.

yup, could never figure that one !!
33.gif

Um, if the fate of the world depended on it, I quite possibly could get a piece of chicken or something to my mouth if I had my face right down by the plate. It''s enough for me to maneuver a fork. Mr. Miyagi would''ve pulled his hair out and given up on me.

DF,
Yes I know how to use them. But I use a fork.... runs and hides.... Save me a place next to you Skippy!!!!
