I''d totally call you lamest list keeper EVER for doing a drive-by "I''m engaged!!" thread but I think I did the same thing so I totally understand (except I wasn''t list keeper....)
Well I suppose congrats are in order!!!!!
WooHoo for LP and K and being engaged! I''m so happy for you.
OK, so as promised, it''s tomorrow and I''m back with the story.
As I mentioned on other threads, we closed on the house on Wednesday, but I was out of town for work until yesterday afternoon. I had a really rough and stressful week. When I got back on Saturday, K suggested we go over to see the new house as HOMEOWNERS! He told me that he had a bottle of champagne chilling in the fridge to celebrate and to cheer me up after my long week. K also told me that he had saved dismantling the chandelier in the dining room until I got there. You can sort of see it in this picture:
The light fixture itself is fine, but the previous owners had hung all kinds of random tchotchkes from it. And I''m talking seriously random--mardi gras beads, a salt shaker, a plastic martini glass, etc. It was horrible.
We went over and as promised, K carried me over the threshold. We poured some champagne and walked around the house. At this point I was REALLY not expecting it, since the champagne had already been opened, we were in the house already, etc. Then I said "Oh! Let''s take apart the chandelier!!!" We started dismantling it and then I said something along the lines of "Man, I can''t believe they kept some of this crap!" Kris said something like, "Actually, I think you might want to keep this one. I turned around and he was holding the ring. He got down on one knee and said "Marry me?" I squeaked out a yes and tackled him and we hugged and kissed and I got all misty eyed and cried a little and he got all misty eyed and we drank more champagne and it was wonderful.
Then we spent the rest of the night calling everyone and picking up my friend from the airport because she''s staying with us for a little while.
EEEEEEEEEE!!! We''re getting married!
So on to the ring. As mentioned in previous posts, it''s his great grandmother''s engagement ring. Stats as follows:
14 K White Gold Solitaire
.34 OEC Round Brilliant
H-I
VS1
The band is really slender--probably 2 mm on top tapering to 1-1.5 mm on the bottom. It''s really delicate and just lovely. I haven''t had time to take any more pictures, but here are a few that I took before.
Awww!! That story made me tear up. Kris is such a sweetheart! (Well, naturally he would be, with such an awesome name.
) Beautiful, heart-warming proposal, and your ring is just LOVELY! (That ring box is seriously rockin'' as well--is it the original?) Can''t wait for some close-ups on that gorgeous OEC!
