So i am planning on giving my Maid of Honor a nice swarovski crystal worded "maid of honor" 3/4 " sleeved shirt and a planner for when i ask her to be my maid of honor. My first question is if any of you know of a "Maid of Honor" plan book that is available? If i cant find one i can always just get a cute blank paged journal type thing. And i would give however many bridesmaids i have the same thing only without the planner and the shirts weould say bridesmaid.
My second question is about the other bridesmaids. I have 2 other friends that are pretty close to me. They have both been friends with me for the past 5 years. I think though that i only want a maid of honor. I am just uncertain that the other 2 girls would be able to be there all of the time and my MOH means so much to me and is always there when i need her. So can anyone give me any ideas of special things that they can do at the wedding or in planning for? I was going to ask one to sing..
The one girl would be able to do more than the other cuz she lives closer but i dont want to single the other girl out and not have her as a bridesmaid just cuz she wont do as much as the other bridesmaid. So should i just have both girls be bridesmaids? I guess that i could always ask each of them to do certain bigger things that need done and then have them do a few smaller things that are catered to how much time they can put into it.That sounds good, right?
Also all three of them know each other pretty well and i was worried about the 2 bridesmaids getting upset because the other girl is the maid of honor...do you think that they would just be happy to be in my wedding? I am going to give them thier shirts ASAP so that they will know. but any suggestions?
Help me out and let me know what you ladies think...

ope it works!!!

that''s really sweet that you want to get something nice for your MOH! just make sure that you (thoroughly) read anything that you give her first - you don''t want to send her the wrong message of unrealistic expectations! (i.e. "As maid of honor, you should attend to your bride''s every whim, blah blah blah", ya know!?)

While I think the shirt is a nice idea for your MOH, what does your MOH need a planner for? Is it just in general or is it a planner for your wedding stuff? It would personally make me feel like the bride expected an awful lot of me if she presented me with a planner, but that''s just me. I think the shirt is cute though...

Surfgirl: You're reading my mind. Having bridesmaids should be about having the people you love most there with you to share an amazing time in your life; Not based on how much they can do for you. Personally, I would NOT give them planners. I am going to be a MOH for 2 of my best friends, and I would be offended if they gave me a planner outright.

I have already offered to help with absolutely anything they need along the way (other than what I will be planning), but if the MOH needs a planner for wedding stuff I would let her get it herself.

That's what Moms are for!!! (Miracles...

j/k)

I would mail them cards with hand written notes explaining why it would mean alot for you to have them in your wedding. Then put the t-shirt in the package as well. It will mean alot to them and it's something they can keep forever.

I agree that a planner might overwhelm or offend your MOH, I''d skip it.

As for jobs for the other girls, if you don''t ask them to be in the bridal party I would wait until they offer their help before I ask them to do anything. Small things during the ceremony are one thing (I wouldn''t hesitate to ask someone to sing or do a reading) but if you''re going to ask them to help with anything for the planning of the wedding, I wouldn''t until they offer.

I can''t imagine anyone being upset about being asked to be a bridesmaid instead of a MOH, that sounds awfully silly. My guess is that they will be honored to be a part of your wedding.

As a side note, you might want to ask the girls to hold on to the shirts you give them until the bachelorette party so they can wear them when you go out.

Good luck!

Oh gosh, my thoughts exactly! I think my eyes would pop out of my head if I were presented with a maid-of-honor planner.
