If you own an external CD drive, what kind is it?

no one?

I own a Macbook Air but I don't have an external CD drive so I didn't answer. (My husband has a Mac desktop and laptop with a CD drives so I just transfer stuff that way.)

I have 4 of those Mybook things (Western Digital?) and then some of those WD Passport ones that I keep outside of my house. MyBooks are I think 2TB each? And they are strictly used for backup purposes--like TimeMachine and whatever. I have always had good experiences with all my WD stuff.

Thanks. I have software I want to load. I know I can go to apple and they will do it but that seems like a pain.

Same here (except the desktop is also mine- I am spoilt).

My DH has an external drive for macbook air from Apple, $79.99 from Apple.com, and it is a CD/DVD/burner. We don't have macbook air's (have 1 mac Mini, and several macbook laptops) but that's what he just responded with to help you decide!

macbook air superdrive is the name of it.

That's nice--as long as you never want to use it with anything other than a Mac. The one I linked is PC / Mac compatible and is also a DVD burner etc.

If you don't anticipate using it all that often, this one for $21 will work with a PC and Mac:

Exactly the same. I've found I need to use CDs less and less.

We bought the Apple one - it works great.

I have a MBA, I've used the programme that you can download from Apple to 'borrow' another optical drive on my network. Works on Windows as well as Macs and it's free :)

I have the external CD drive from Apple for the Macbook Air, and use the TimeMachine for backups. I am also using the TimeMachine to backup my MacBook Pro. They both work great! We love Apple toys, and have the Airport Extreme Base Station for WiFi networking too.
