Hi Whitby!
35.gif

I''ve been fighting an infection and haven''t been feeling very well lately. Thank you for checking on me!

Chemo has been on hold for a month and we won''t get started again until this infection stuff is gone. DH and I are supposed to go to a casino in Louisiana for his 50th birthday on June 28....hope I''m well enough to go!

Big hugs to my Sista!

thanks for the update. :)

i'll check in again on you later on in the month to see that you made it to the celebrations; no doubt your husband will need all the support her can get to make it through his entry into the next decade!

hope you manage to hit this infection on the head soon and that the next round of chemo goes well for you.

holding you in my thoughts and sending off some prayers for you....

xo

Lori- you were on my other colored stone thread, and I''ve wanting to ask how you were doing also and hadn''t gotten around to it, I hope you get to go for a good celebration with your DH.... Dust your way and hope you feel much much better soon. Get Well!

thanks whitby for starting this thread.

Lori prayers continue!!!

Thank you my dear PS friends!!!

It has been rough lately, but I''m doing my best to hold my head up and keep going.

Does anyone know of a good liver specialist in the Katy/Houston area? I need a good endocrinologist, too.

Lori

Just wanted to stop in and send you good wishes and dust for a speedy recovery Lori!

My positive thoughts and prayers will be coming your way lori for as long as you need them. Chemo can be very rough, but try to hang in with it. We''ve got a lot of Texans in our group. Hopefully a few people will be able to throw out the names of some good doctors so you can choose.

You are in my thoughts and prayers too, Loriken. I hope some PS''ers will chime in here about recommended specialists.

Lori,

I am so glad that I opened this thread and learned of your infection. I hope that it is cleared up quickly so that the chemo can continue. (It sounded as if it had been in progress?) I do not know why you are being treated with chemotherapy and would love to have a link to a thread that explains the illness for which you are being treated. I am very sorry to learn of it and I hope that the trip to Louisiana goes off on schedule and is a lot of fun! I will hold you in the light and in my prayers.

PS-At first when you asked for the name of a liver specialist in the Houston area I thought you were traveling there, but I take it you live there?

Hugs,
Deb/AGBF

Lori, I have you in my prayers, huge hugs too!

Lori, dear - you''re in my thoughts! I hope the infection is gone very soon!

Hey Lori, haven''t been reading as diligently of late, so I didn''t know you had an infection.

I just want to send you a massive e-hug and let you know I''m routing for you to be well enough for your casino trip. Just concentrate on getting well enough to go and which sparklies you will be adorning you on your trip.

Much love Hon

Saw my rheumatologist today and he said that the chemo caused the infections. It is a side effect of Cytoxan. We''re going to wait two months and let my body heal from the chemo and see how I''m doing then. We''ll try chemo again once I''m better.

I have SLE Lupus and have been on Prednisone steroids for almost 7 years. They are very beneficial in the beginning, but have serious side effects long term. I''ve become an insulin dependent Type II diabetic, have osteoporosis, liver problems, serious weight gain, sleep apnea, heart problems, etc. and need to get off of these steroids. The chemo is to help wean me off of them.

I was diagnosed with SLE Lupus in October of 2002, just after I turned 40, and was able to work until I became too ill and had to take a disability retirement on December 13, 2007.

Anyway, if you know of anyone with Lupus, please give them a hug. Lupus affects people in different ways, but it isn''t much fun and is often misunderstood. In my case, it affects every joint in my body...head to toe...and they swell, burn and I''m so fatigued that I sometimes can''t get out of bed. To go from a vibrant, functioning woman who only took a vitamin a day to what I am now.....I can''t explain why it happened, but I''m determined to stay positive as long as I can.

And, for anyone you know on chemo, please stay positive for them. I''m picking out my special pillow right now for when I get nauseated....it is nice to hug something soft and comfy.

Yes, I live in Katy which is 30 miles West of Houston. We have our famous Medical Center and I''ve been there quite a few times already.

Hi Lori,

Thinking about you

Hope you feel better real soon.

Dear Lori,
I will be praying for you, and thinking of you.
Steroids are a catch 22, aren''t they?
I weaned off them last year, and I was able to substitute a drug called Imuran. I am grateful for that.
At least you live somewhere that has excellent medical facilities.
Hope you have a good day and are able to go on your vacation.

Hi Lori,

SO sorry to hear all the side effects you are going through.

Hang in there! If your chemo round does not work as well as your Rheumie likes, there are alternative biologics available to you still. So don''t give up hope!
