We went paragliding in Oludeniz a couple of days ago and got suckered into buying the photos. :wink2:

Has anyone else been? It was such a fun time; I had been once before in Austria so knew it wouldn't be too frightening. But there was one girl who went at the same time that I was afraid would be passed out the whole way down!

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little

Erica doesn't do heights. Erica likes to keep her feet firmly on the ground. Erica's palms are all sweaty right now.

(Erica talks in the 3rd person when she's freaked out)

That made me burst out laughing, DH is looking at me like I am a weirdo. :loopy:

Justginger-how cool! I would love to do something like that!

Erica sounds like a smart cookie, to Minousbijoux!

But Ginger, that is a way cool photo - glad you sprung for it - and so amazing that you can do something like that and not only not automatically pass out, but enjoy it!

Even when you know you'll like it and you've done it before, doesn't your adrenaline automatically kick in?

What an awesome photo! Beautiful and scary at the same time.

A little bit, minous. But it feels different than it looks. You feel completely stable, and like you're just suspended. Unless you do tricks on purpose, it doesn't even feel like you're moving, or going down at all. And there's no scary point that you actually have to jump and hope the parachute will hold - with paragliding you get to the top of the mountain, get the chute all laid out on the ground and open, and then take a few steps, flick it up above you, take a few more quick steps, and you're already in the air. It's reassuring because if there's something wrong with the setup, you'd never get airborne in the first place.

And honestly, with the crazy, twisty, steep, no-guard-railed road that we drove up at about 80 mph...DH summed it up nicely when he looked at me at the top and said, "I'd rather jump than get back in that van for the ride down!"

Well..Missi has to wipe her hands on her pants several times to dry them off so she can type. And Missi's stomach is somewhere down below, roundabout her toes..Missi might have to send her mind to her happy place for a while..

Glad you had fun tho! I think I'da been like the other girl

LOL, I keep opening this thread because the comments are funny, and then I look at the picture again and my ears get all hot and all I hear is ringing and it's downhill from there.

I could never ever do that! That is an amazing photo though :appl:

And to JewelFreak, who is about to blow lunch!

But if you can get over being paralyzed by fear, it would be a ball. Good for you, Ginger! (Sympathies on the ride up in the van, too.)

HI:

Great picture--someone has to do it!

cheers--Sharon

SO cool! That looks like a ball!

I did this, and I wish I would have gotten the pics. It was very fun, and I agree the worst part is the drive up the mountain. We did it in Rio, and my now hubby asked me to marry him after we landed. My landing wasn't so smooth as his, almost did a header into a seawall. He was so scared about losing me, that's when he realized he wanted to marry me!

I'm glad others have done it too, Coda - I'm not the only crazy one! And that was so sweet of your DH after your trip from the top, he was worried! :))

What an amazing photo!! I'd love to do that one day!

*gulp*

that said, seems like it'd be awesome to try one day. Poppy probably didn't come along, right? Looking at that pic, one of my first thoughts was -- keep Poppy safe, keep Poppy safe! Uff. Maybe I should take a break from PS, or something :cheeky:

Awesome pic!!!!!! Did miss Poppy go on this adventure with you?

ETA: I just saw that GemFever was thinking about Poppy too - Only on PS would we be concerned about whether or not your jewelry went paragliding with you

OH that looks amazing, I adore heights!!!! Love the pic! :appl:

WOW,you have guts!!..i'm afriad of heights..

Poppy DID come with me! Perhaps not the wisest decision but she was pretty secure on my finger...it was my camera I was a bit more concerned would come adrift. Don't think you'd be able to salvage after a drop like that.
