Liberty Mutual Insurance?

My husband and I just bought a new Subaru Impreza. It's the first new car we have ever had - yay! :)) We have had Nationwide insurance for years. Subaru has a partnership with Liberty Mutual (Subaru Advantage Insurance, and I decided to see what they are quoting. It is significantly less for similar coverage (same $ coverages, etc). The major difference seems to be that Liberty Mutual will replace our car with a brand new one for two years, while Nationwide is offering three years of new car replacement for a totalled car). Do any PSers have Liberty Mutual? I have been looking at ratings online, and the results are mixed. Also, we paid for the car in cash, so there is no chance that we will end up "underwater" on the value. Any sage advice?

I would also welcome other suggestions if you have any. The car is covered under our current policy, so I have a little breathing room to shop for other options. Price is not my only consideration. I do want a solid company that delivers if we get into an accident, etc.

I've had only 1 small experience w/Liberty, may not be much help. Looking for a new insurer, I made an appt. w/an agent. He spent most of the time telling me stories about traffic tickets he'd gotten. Did I care? When he tried to look up premiums for house-ins. coverage, seemed to have no idea how to do it. Came up w/a HUGE number that didn't make sense, after about 1/2 hr. of fiddling w/his computer. When I said it was very high, he said, "Why don't you come back next September when our new rates are out?" Since it was then April, I decided this guy wasn't interested in my green stuff.

We use Allstate for car, house, & umbrella policies. Haven't made a car claim but they were very good when we needed a new roof -- covered almost the entire cost.

Thanks Jewelfreak! That agent sounds terrible. I can't imagine he sells much insurance. The local agent I got the quote from has been very helpful and responsive (our Nationwide agent has been too). That's great about your roof. We have never made an insurance claim, but I do want to know that we are actually covered if something happens.

Only have one experience. I applied for a job and they were nice enough to send a rejection letter. very rare these days!

Thanks JulieN! I'm sorry that you didn't get the job, but it was polite of them to send you a letter!

I second the Allstate recommendation. I love that I have a local agent who calls to check up on me and such. Their rates were considerably less than the other companies I priced out.

Thanks amc80! I asked my best friend who he uses, and got another vote for Allstate. It seems that they are pretty popular. I will check them out and compare.

We have Liberty Mutual for our home and vehicles. Have not made any claims against the insurance so I don't know what else to add.
