I just got a great deal yesterday on an unwanted Christmas gift and am really liking it! I didn't even know Kindle allows lending but now I have a question about it. I keep seeing forums/sites/etc talking about the "1 lending per book" rule but I don't see that anywhere on Amazon's site. Has it been changed recently perhaps?

The lending rules are set by the publisher of the book. As far as loaning a book once and then never again, that very well may be the case but I'm not sure. However, I would bet that it has more to do with what the publisher demands.

I so don't understand. How do you get a great deal on an unwanted christmas gift. Was it the book or the kindle?

It was a Kindle. Someone got one as a gift but didn't need it because they already have an iPad... so they sold it to me!

Italia, I know publishers decide whether or not they allow lending but the general word is that Amazon only allows 1 lending per book ever. I just wish it were on their website somewhere...

Ok, now I get it! Don't you just love it! I have had one for a couple weeks and I ordered one for my DH! I love going to amazon
and getting the free books. It is now the first thing I do in the morning! I would never buy most of those books but since they are
free, I will get them. I didn't know you could lend them! Great info!

The "once" rule is universal. I believe it's the same for Nook. Maybe in the future it would change. In the mean, to true up the answer for yourself, call CS.

I think the one-time-lend is ridiculous. If I've purchased a physical book I can loan it at my will. If I've purchased a digital book, why can't I still loan it at will? I love my Kindle, but this p!sses me off.
