Ok, now that I know I'm not the only one who has done this...

I've just bought my dress!!

Further explanation: we are getting engaged at the end of January, with a wedding in September. My parents live abroad and my mother was visiting two weeks ago (she won't be coming to England again until 2 months before the wedding). My amazing boyfriend knows that I really wanted to choose my dress with her, so told me to go ahead and have a look. We went to a few shops but I couldn't find anything I liked. So we were browsing dress sites that evening, and I came across the most beautiful dress on a preowned bridal dress site. It was only £175 (about $280), had never been worn (was bought by a two-dress bride), and my size! So we went to the lovely girl's house to try it on, and it fitted perfectly. So we bought it!!

My boyfriend finds it hilarious that the whole thing happened in the course of 24 hours

Well, I'm nothing if not efficient...

Here it is on me!

Another one. I should point out the veil is my sister's, not mine - not sure if I'm going to wear a veil or not. Thoughts?

LOL Lily I thought you were engaged already because you posted your dress in BWW! Love it!

When are you buying the crib? LOL just kidding. I think it''s a great dress and makes sense in your situation.

omg LilyKat - IT''S GORGEOUS!!!!!!! And you look gorgeous in it!!! Wow I just LOVE that lacey/gauzey overlay, the dress is just sensational! I LOVE that you started this thread, hahaha. Everyone else who bought a wedding gown before their engagement should post theirs too *cough* Luckyeshe *cough*

I say yes to a veil! I was at a wedding photographer's blog and one of her brides wrote a guest post about why veils are a must! To Veil or Not to Veil.

I think she's right - veils make for BEAUTIFUL photo ops :)

ETA: Also, you can always take it on or off throughout the day as you wish. My sister wore the veil for her ceremony, but took it off for the reception.

Love the dress, LilyKat! There''s nothing wrong with buying the dress so early especially given your situation.

That dress is absolutely breath taking. It''s beautiful on you!

Haha, Lily!!! I loved this when you posted it over in BWW!!! And I STILL DO!!! But I had totally forgotten when I saw it in BWW that technically you were still a LIW...

Joking, I promise.

Thank you all so much for your kind comments! I''m so excited, almost can''t wait the 8.5 months to wear it. Resisting the temptation to go and put it on to do the dishes...

That was such a sweet post! I wasn''t planning on wearing a veil, but now I''m starting to think that maybe I should!

Ditto, LP!!! I constantly flip-flop between veil and no veil, and I think this may have brought me back into the veil camp for good! Thanks for sharing, BBD!

LilyKat, what a beautiful dress! It''s very flattering, and an amazing buy to boot. Wear it with pride (just don''t do the dishes with it until after the wedding

Thank you AustenNut! I did resist, but I think it will definitely be worn around the house after the wedding... may as well make the most of it, right?
