I''ve never asked for dust before, but it seems to work so well for everyone else that I couldn''t resist!
On Tuesday I learned that I will be losing my job in two months. They''re allowing me a bit of time to find a new job before they let me go. I don''t want to get into the whole story, but basically I''ve hated my job for a year and a half and my boss has made my life miserable. They tend to put down and push out all of the people I think are fantastic to work with, and elevate the people I think are generally worthless, so I don''t think things would ever have worked out. In a way it''s a relief that I have a timeline now because otherwise I never would''ve quit without another job.
FI and I can definitely live in his salary while maybe using a tiny bit of our savings every month if I don''t get a job, but obviously I hope to find something before I leave here. Many of the jobs I''m most qualified for require as much travel as I''m doing now, which I just can''t do anymore. I would''ve left this job just because of the travel even if my boss wasn''t horrible, so I don''t think it would be wise to take another job that I would be wanting to quit from day one. Hopefully I won''t have to make that decision, because if it came down to it, I don''t know if I''d be able to turn down another job, with or without travel. My ideal job is one at FI''s company and I almost had one last year before the economy tanked so I have to hope I get lucky again. It would involve changing industries which is tricky, but I have to hope that people will see the great things in my resume and realize that they apply across industries. It seems like most jobs I''m finding are for people with slightly more experience than me (and experience in specific industries which makes changing over hard) but I''ll keep applying and keep hoping that something will work out.
I hope with some dust from my kind PSers I''ll be able to find a job that I can go to and not be miserable at every day.
