JD just finished this last night. Will hold all our tv paraphernalia with some space left over. Most of our dvds are in the big cases but some of the kids stuff is still out and some are moms movies. Once those are given back there'll be a little more room. I need a basket to put the Wii remotes and such. The wall trim on the back needs to come off and a thing for the cords put in and a cut out for the vent and then it will sit flush to the wall and we'll attach it so the kids can't pull it down. He used the dark stain that they used on the kitchen cupboards they put in a couple years ago when they gave me the computer area. It looks like weathered wood..kind of grayish/brownish, 3 coats of varnish so it's glassy.

Makes the living room look more open, which I like since the house is so small.

Thought about putting a back on it but not sure..I like being able to see the orange behind it.

First project w/the surprise Kreig joiner thing I got him for Christmas-always an ulterior motive lurking haha.

Very nice.... Are you watching GUMMY BEARS?!? I love the Gummy Bears!!! :D

Very nice! I like how narrow it is, our flatscreen looks silly on our entertainment center with the tv 5 inches wide and the center is about 18 inches deep??? Looks like good use of your space. :appl:

Looks great -- I need a craftsman! Love the ashy grey stain. Also, is that an adorable real puppy curled up to the right?? I need one of those too!

That's gorgeous! The size is perfect - we've been searching for something similar for our living room! Neither of us are talented enough to do anything like this, though.

Wonderful work! He did a great job.

What a great job! I love it! I think I would put a back on it, though, and paint in orange just so you can hide the wires.

Thanks everyone! He's really proud of it.

Hera, yeah the wires stick in my craw and drive me crazy so we've got to hide them somehow.

Meg, that's actually a toy that my aunt gave me for Christmas! It has some sort of air bladder thing in it that moves up and down like it's breathing. Looks pretty real when you're not close to it.

Tuckins haha yep, Gummi Bears! My brother bought them that, Smurfs and Ducktales so when the kids want to watch cartoons with him, it can be something we loved as kids.

I saw Chicken in her bed! Give her a cavalier kiss from Charlie Brown :wavey:

Love the color of the wood and the graining. And the adorable little pup!

Wow, that looks great! JT did a wonderful job packrat!

Packy- JD did an awesome job! very handy, and crafty of him!

How pretty!

He did an awesome job on that!

Very nice piece!!! The wires...you can buy something at a hardware store that is specific to wire-hiding needs. It kind of looks like moulding...you could run it just behind the top shelf and then down the side of the piece to the floor. It either sticks to the wall or can be nailed in, I imagine. I suggest googling "hiding cables" or "hiding wires" or whatever, I found a bunch of sites just now with lots of options.

My brother builds furniture as well and your husband's piece looks like something he might've made. It's so nice to have a handy hubby!!
