Texas bride chiming in... LOL!!! Separation of church and state... here we go again.

ETA: C and I haven't begun talking about these classes just yet, but it will be intersting to see if they set up state classes (which I assume would be about $50, the amount you would save on the marriage license), or if they will allow church related premarital classes to count. I'm sorry but this seems a little over the top, and destined for controversy.

ooohhhh thanks!!!!

I got married in Texarkana, which is on the border of Texas/Arkansas. I had originally thought about having the wedding in my grandmother''s backyard, which was in Texas, but after looking at the restrictions on the license, I opted to have it at the country club, which was on the Arkansas side. Though this is new, the waiting period was in place last fall as well unless we took the class. As we''re out of state I thought it was inconvenient. Isn''t there a blood test requirement too? Arkansas just said "show up with an ID and cash", though we could have opted for a "Covenant Marriage". We didn''t.

It looks interesting...

I''m not anywhere near Texas, but just thought I would share.

Looking at some of those comments, can you believe how much the licenses are in other states? Geez!

Although, I don''t know what it is in MD, I think it''s 50 or 60, depending on the county... Ah, I''ve got about 9 months to get that info!
