It's not everyday you find a 12 ct ring on the ground!!!

OK
1. How do you not know you don't have your 12 carat ring on!? and
2. I'm not so sure I would've returned it.

Good for him. Yeah, I would've done the same thing, bawling loudly all the way. Nice people to let them use their house in return. Wonder how much that sucker cost?

I can't imagine not returning it

It looks pretty intense. I'm sure the house she let them use was nice too. Also, she gave them the week between Christmas and New Years which is probably the most attractive week for a ski vacation.

She put it on her lap and FORGOT about it?  HUH?

If I was the owner of that ring I'd make damn sure I knew where it was every second of every day! This just doesn't make sense to me.

I can't imagine being so careless as to not know where a 12 ct diamond ring is at all times. It was in her lap and she dropped it at the airport? I wonder if she had insurance. (regardless of the fact it was returned). I wonder if she'll be more careful next time.

She was probably putting lotion on her hands or something, preparing for the flight after a ski vaca. She wasn't used to it either, as it had been a 30th anniversary present.

Good for him, returning it. Its the right thing to do (obviously). I hope I would have done the same thing. 99.5% sure.

Love this!!! He's such a great guy, there are more people like that than you think. What a great story.

I mean, I'd return it and all, but I'd make sure it was safe on my finger till we found the owner.

I like stories like this...good for him, and what a great example he set for his kids.

Oh Bella! I just posted a topic about this, looked below it, and saw you already started a thread  I'm glad someone else saw it and thought to post about it.

I fear not too many people would return such a ring... it's wonderful that this man did!

My ring isn't 12 carats (obviously)... but the first weeks I had that thing it was worth more to me any other possession I had. We were in the airport. I took it off to CLEAN it of all things, put it in my lap to get out the cleaner from my purse. I was distracted by some announcement, stood up and went up to the counter, came back and there was a VERY NICE MAN holding my ring asking me if I'd lost it.

It can happen. And there are nice people out there.

My first thought on watching the vid was "thank heaven somebody else does stuff like that." It's just the sort of knucklehead thing I'd do & my husband would NEVER understand how I could be so dumb. He gave me a terrific little camera for Christmas once. At some company meetings in Tucscon I sat in the hotel lobby, figuring it out, then gathered all my gear & walked to the door to go on a walk. Realized I'd left my new camera on the table. Turned around to get it & it was gone. In less than a minute & never turned up again. Dumb! Dumb! Not a 12-ct yellow diamond but no smarter.

Wow! What a great story!

The only thing I find is lint.

This also reminds me of a story. DD's friend's Ipod went missing after the friend's Halloween party along with a pair of earrings. The girl's father located it via the GPS feature. Spoke with the parents, showed them on the computer where the Ipod was (in their house) and the kid gave back the Ipod but swears she did not take the earrings (ah, she was wearing them).

There ARE good people in the World!! :appl:
