Scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see this:

"Feline postvaccinal sarcoma: 20 years later
Brian Wilcock, Anne Wilcock, Katherine Bottoms

Abstract — Comparison of the annual prevalence of feline postvaccinal sarcomas among 11 609 feline skin mass submissions from 1992 to 2010 revealed no decrease in disease prevalence or increase in the age of affected cats in response to changes in vaccine formulation or recommended changes in feline vaccination protocols."

I would dearly love to be able to read this article or at least understand a bit more about what the results mean. Specifically, what is the disease prevalence, and were there any incidences of postvaccinal sarcomas in cats that were vaccinated with Merial's PureVax product?

Lots of us have cats and I am sure would be interested in understanding the ramifications of this report.

I googled Brian Woolcock and found his website. Although this article is not on his website, the following very informative article from 2007 was: http://www.histovet.com/PDFs/HIS_PostVaccinal.pdf

These days, I prefer to read research from properly conducted trials. There is so much anecdotal information on the web, it can be difficult to weed out the wheat from the chaff.

I would dearly like to read the new report and I think I will write to Dr Wilcock and see if he will send me a copy. I am particularly interested to hear if there have been any reported cases in cats that have been vaccinated with Meriel's PureVax product that is non-adjuvanted, which is what I opted to vaccinate Team Ginger with. Given that he says the latency period for these tumours to develop is anything from a few months to 13 years, I guess the jury is still out on non-adjuvanted vaccines.
