Is it normal for it to not sparkle all the time?

You guys are so awesome!
I have had the WORST day, and you guys are totally cheering me up.
While I am so happy to see the joy and excitement in others on this forum buy/receive stunning ideal stones with impeccable HCA's and exquisite B-scopes, it is hard knowing that mine is "sub-par" by comparison.
But, I can still say it is mine and it is real... and don't count me out that it is my last diamond (LOL). My poor husband!!!

healight, do I have to come over there and slap you around?

Take a good, hard look at this ring.

BEAUTIFUL.

Consumer knowledge and cut perfection/appreciation take a bad turn when they create negative influences such as this. I would bet my entire jewelry box that 99% of the people look at that ring can't believe how beautiful it is.

Oh yeah, Barry! Actually, he's holding THIS 3 carat stone for me.

All I have to do is divorce my husband and marry a sugar daddy first.

LOL--I've seen that one...and seen it and seen it and seen it. IN MY DREAMS!

A dollar and a dream...Lotto, anyone?

I'm a little disappointed in the color on it, but we all have to make sacrifices in life.

No--I've got a better plan: Show Barry the EGL Israel cert--he'll pass out from the shock--and while he's unconscious, we'll make off with the diamond.

Will Paper, Sissors, Rock work to settle this?

In regards to the "rock, paper, scissors" method...
I actually just heard a story this past weekend about an office where these ladies all went in on a diamond necklace TOGETHER and then they each got "their" month to wear it!

The Macaroni Grill, hands down. Home Depot too. The bathrrom lights, sunlight, dim lighting, parking lot lights, twilight, you name it--I have been looking for my stone NOT to sparkle but it always seem to be doing something. Kind of like headlight, I was waiting for it to 'fail' b/c it isn't 'super Ideal', just a 1A cut by the charts. But it hasn't really failed me yet.

Good idea!

And I never did learn how to do rock paper scissors. I say just do it so that I end up with the rock please.

The most awesome place that my ring showed a lot of fire was in an elevator. I almost missed my floor gazing at it!!!

Had lunch at Macaroni Grill yesterday. They should plan the lighting for the rest of the world!

sparkle! sparkle! sparkle!

The lighting in my last kitchen was terrible in regards of sparkle. The casing made it more diffuse light... but the up-side was that it allowed you to see the Arrow pattern perfectly.

The best light sources my FW and I have experienced were: bright outside sunny days and church where there are stained glass windows.

Unfortunately it doesn't look STELLAR in lower ambient lighting... which for some reason is always when her family sees it or when her soon-to-be-sister-in-law sees it. It'll knock anybody for a loop in daylight.

I have... er she has, a .90ct I/VS2 Jubilee c/o Jon @ GOG.

I've been out of commission on the boards for awhile, but I'm lurking and spending time in the Pricescope Cafe and on the Knot.

Just came back from a trip to Vegas!

The strip is the place to appreciate your well cut diamond. The fire from all the lights is amazing.

We also stopped by Tiffany's. Although my WF ACA doesn't technically meet Tiffany standards, we loved their lighting and thought ours was just a beautiful (and much bigger than what I could have bought in a blue box)

I LOVE these threads!!!

My diamond goes most crazy in WALMART!!!
10.gif
Yes, Walmart!
6.gif
It does what I love best... it gives off 1,000+ little slivers (think "pie slice" slivers!) of shimmering, glorious color... man, I LOVE that!
love.gif
I could look at that forever!
love.gif

Funny thing, though, today I was in a different Walmart... and it wasn't QUITE the same. VERY, very good but not quite as mesmerizing as MY Walmart!
2.gif
(Or maybe the ring was dirty today?!)

Anyway, I ditto Home Depot, diffuse sunlight, the bathroom, Macaroni Grill, and the grocery store... but I'm tellin' ya'... (my) WALMART is THE BEST!

I second (or is it third? or fourth?) Home Depot for diamond-friendly lighting.

others:
Nordstrom
Borders
most mall skylights

I've been married more than 20 years and I still look at my rings. I can't help it. I've had my 1.06 ct, less than spectacular round stone, for 10 years and I still look at it. It's just a habit. It does sparkle more under flourescent lights, like the grocery store, but all jewelry does if it's clean. The best thing is to keep them clean. Just washing your hands with dish soap will make a difference. I also have a ultrasonic cleaner from Sharper Image that I use about once a week with ammonia, or windex in the water. And professional cleaning occasionally really makes a difference.

Ouch! That musta hurt!

Tee hee, I can't wait to try Home Depot! I've practically spent the last 6 months there and can't believe I hadn't noticed. Too one track minded I guess. Gotta get back to the business of sparklies!

I do have halogen lights at home and at my new house, and yes, it's like being in a jewelry store.

I get my best performances out of my ring standing in the hallway.
