Yes. It looks like a midlife crisis on wheels. But if you like that look, then go for it!

i have to agree!!!

{sorry OP}
Are you two really young? Because the experience of having the top down FEELS the same at 40 as it does at 20. Maybe better. I hate those stereotypes!

Tick tick tick.
Have fun while you can.

50 is when the head finally gets pulled out of the @ss of worrying what others think. :appl:

Plus, imagine what her diamond will look like in a topless car!
it looks awesome! I loved taking ours out before we sold it and moved away... when we move back to the states we're getting another one :)

wife said... she wants to drive a convertible.i LOL !! at your age? i think she was B.S.ing me.

So rent a convertible and let her drive it for a day! :naughty:

She did say she wanted to DRIVE one right? That doesn't mean OWN one, right?

Once again, DF, you amaze me with your silliness and stick in the mud-ishness.

50 is the new 30. Get her the convertible. Maybe she WON'T get a tattoo.

No way! Convertibles are fun at any age. Who wouldn't want to drive around with the wind in their hair and the bugs in their sunglasses

There's no age limit on fun!
I agree with Nashville!!

There's some priorities!!!

Considering that we own a MGB and a Miata 6-speed, and my husband has been driving a convertible almost exclusively since he was about 37, (we're 47 and 48) I'd say we'll be driving convertibles until one or both of us can't get in them anymore.

And my husband scoffs at cars that are just convertibles but not "drivers' cars". He picked his ragtops for DRIVING. That's why they're manual and neither is built in the US, which is not known for building decent small sports cars.

So no DF, age has nothing to do with it. Being a true petrolhead is what it's about at our house.

I am 50 and if someone bought me one I sure as heck would drive it (and probably fast!)!

There's no age limit for driving a convertible. FI and I have one, and so do two out of four of our parents who are in their 60s. You only get one life; might as well enjoy it.

If your wife gets a convertible, you're probably going to end up wanting to drive it. They're fun!

My father has been driving a convertible for a long time and most of the other men in our circle have a convertible (although most have an SUV that they use for the winter). I don't think it looks like a mid life crisis. I just think it looks like you picked a good career and have done well at it (but I guess it would depend on what kind of convertible it is).

Of course not! My grandfather bought himself a convertible when he was 70 and had a great time driving it around.

yeah i can picture us now...two old geezer in a RED convertible waiting for the signal light to turn green and a young couple on the next lane staring at us and then laughing their A$$ off.

So someone driving a Mercedes SL convertible if they're over 50 looks like someone having a midlife crisis?

yes,most likely.

Not exactly, but what kind of car? If it's a muscle car, like a mustang or camaro, then she might look a little silly. But if it's a different kind (high end sports car, or something) then it would be fine! My Stepdad has a VW Eos convertible. He's 62 and looks great in it!

ETA- Who cares what other people think?! If it makes her happy, then do it... Happy wife, happy life, right? :wink2:

Well, that's a chance I would be willing to take when I get to be 50! :?

Besides, it comes with hard top roof. What are you? Some kind of convertible hater?! 8)
