Yes. It looks like a midlife crisis on wheels. But if you like that look, then go for it!

i have to agree!!!

{sorry OP}

No way! Convertibles are fun at any age. Who wouldn't want to drive around with the wind in their hair and the bugs in their sunglasses

There's no age limit on fun!

no way is 50 to old for a convertible!

Lots of 50+ in my area drive convertibles. So why not?

I have a couple of family members in their late 40's or 50's who drive convertibles, doesn't bother me. For them it was more so just that they were finally at points in their lives where they could afford the sports cars they wanted, not a midlife crisis. Convertibles are fun, but I always look like I survived a tornado when I get out of them...

Mid-life crisis on wheels????? I think NOT!!!

I'm considerably older than DF's wife and I love driving ours. This one is our second 'ragtop' ; the first was at 25  How can anyone say no to FUN ?

Start loosening those purse strings, DF

I don't think it is too old. It is kind of easy to tell who is just enjoying life and who is having a mid-life crisis. I say let her have one if she wants. :appl:

Good for your wife DF!!! I bet she'll look great driving a convertible!!!!

Seriously?

I had no desire for one until I found myself face to face with mine at the dealership, next thing I know I'm driving it to dinner! lol, I got mine 3 years ago but I won't be 50 for a few more years so apparently I'm safe. Maybe the sudden renewed appeal was that I learned to drive on a Fiat Spyder.

Omg who cares what narrow-minded people think? Buy what you like and enjoy it!

I must be hitting my mid-life crisis then (I'll be 40 in a couple years). I never wanted a convertible until I saw the cutest Lexus IS
hardtop in RED! I knew immediately that that's going to be my next car because I don't need a huge mommy-mobile anymore, my kids are out of carseats~

Ha-ha, great choice on the Spyder! No, I wasn't being totally serious -- just joking around with DF who loves to make "age" jokes. My husband and I are both over 50, and we plan on getting a mini cooper convertible -- after we lose enough weight to fit into it, that is :cheeky: !!

NO!!!!! I want a convertible myself and I will be 50 this year :naughty: my first car was a convertible I have always like them!

Not too old for driving but maybe too old to put the top down :naughty:

My brother's 50 year old wife and my 80 year old car insurance agency
owner both drive red convertibles.
His a Mustang
Hers a Miata
She rocks it
He not so much

NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw this older lady ( would say late 60's ) several weeks ago - sporting long grey hair with a beautiful scarf around her head driving a nice yellow VW Beetle Convertible...

I said to myself " I want to be just like her when I grow up "....

Life is too short to wonder about all of the "I wonder if"'s...

I dare anyone to tell me that in 8 yrs I will be too old for anything :angryfire:

50 is FABULOUS so why not drive whatever you want. :naughty:

Definitely not! As long as you can afford it, I say go for it.

I had an amazing econ prof in college, she was probably in her 50s or so, she was just kick-***, and she had this awesome lexus convertible. I remember when she got it, saying that everyone should get one free speeding ticket with purchase =)

I think people should do what makes them happy. If a 50 year old gets enjoyment out of their convertible what is the problem? How does it negatively infringe on my life? How is it any of my business?

I say go for it! We are thinking about getting a sportier car also like Callisto said, we are older and can now afford it and also we do not need the room for car seats and kid stuff.

If it is too old, I have a serious problem!
I've loved ragtops since I was a kid- but could not afford one till I was in my 40's

Oooh don't I know it!!! Remember the convertible I bought DH?? I will be rocking that soon!!!

Nah, 50 isn't too old. My dad had one.

We are all going to die.
Tick tick tick.
Have fun while you can.

50 is when the head finally gets pulled out of the @ss of worrying what others think. :appl:

Plus, imagine what her diamond will look like in a topless car!

Not too old at all!!!

Most of the people I see driving them are 40+ as it is and I never thought twice about it..

well, I'm over 50. I take the top off my Vette and I don't really care what anyone thinks !
Besides with sunglasses on - who can tell! And you won't be able to see me anyway, cause I'll be a

BLLLLUUUUUUURRRRRRR in your rear view mirror !! :naughty:

good lord - why WOULD it be too old?
