quick question and want to know if this is super tacky.....

Our venue room minimum is 125 people and for cost reasons we do not want to have over 140people. I wanted to send all family invites first (their rsvp date will be about 8 weeks prior to wedding...family rcvd save the dates so they should know whether or not they are coming by now) and send friend invites afterward so we know how many friends we can invite (thier rsvp date will be 5 weeks prior to wedding).

Has anyone done this? Any opinions or suggestions?

I don''t think it''s tacky...but having it actually work out may be tough. I''m pretty skeptical of people responding by the date given! So you may have to make some phone calls as it gets down to the 8wk mark.

I am planning on doing this as well, because we are in a similar situation. I think it is fine, as long as your friends are local and wouldn''t have to make travel plans. Also, as long as they aren''t in the same "circles" as your family, so they won''t hear that so and so received their invitation 3 weeks earlier than a friend.
