So I have spent about 15 hours total searching the internet for the perfect wedding invitation kits and have found nothing! I would like the keep the cost under $2.00 per invitation so I have been looking for kits I will print myself. Michaels has so many cute kits but the colors are wrong. HELP!

So I found the inspiration for my invitation, and of course the cost is too much. They are simple enough to do myself, but I can''t cut a straight line or keep glue from smudging to save my life! Really, when it comes to anything crafty, I WILL find a way to ruin it! Does anyone know how I can make these invitations happen while cutting the cost? Something similar? I am going with greens and pinks and prefer simple designs.

Here are the invitations I love.

Hi

Try Alaunbydesign.com... I received the most beautiful invitations that I had custom made. You can tweak what they have on the website. Mine were a variation of three of their designs. You also have full range of color selections. Ask to speak to Merissa and send her a copy of the picture of the invitation that you like.

Tell her your budget as well. They send out color swatches/samples free of charge. As many as you want. They are so nice and easy to deal with. Their customer service is unbelievable. I had a few invitations damaged during shipping ( due to crystals shifting and the heat ) They were great about sending out replacements - with an upgraded feature.

do you have a crafty friend or family member you can ask for help?

Thanks Crystalheart. I will see what he can do for my budget.

Noelwr: No one that I trust. I really am a control freak and ANY imperfection that gives away the invitations being homemade will drive me crazy so I may have to spend the money and leave it to the pro''s

Izzy my invitations were made by a woman that does them out of her home, she has her own business and they looked professional... but they weren''t letter pressed or anything like that. That''s too pricey.

What makes an invitation look ''homemade'' to you? Crooked lines? Bad printing? I''m curious to know what the perception is on invites.

I was trying to total up components you could get and how much that would cost per piece but it still adds up money-wise. Envelopments for example sells all the pieces you''d need to make a pro looking invitation. The folds are a buck something each though and the paper that can be cut and placed inside can be up to .90 a sheet although you can get a lot more than one apiece out of a sheet. 2.00 each can be a stretch. Even if you''re crafty and do it yourself.

Here''s my invitation maker: http://www.penelopepaperie.com/ She does amazing work. Many folks have told me my invitation was one of the nicest they''d ever received... I helped design it with her in terms of color, patterns, etc. She''s very creative on her own. She''s also currently colllaborating with me on the programs and menus since I am not having my BM help me anymore.

Izzy, if you''re still having trouble with this let me know... while I''m at the paper store tomorrow probably, I will take a look at their invitation components and do a quick calculation on cost for you... how many do you need? Just to see how affordable the DIY ones are for you. Basically you want, the outer folded piece, the separate colored part on the inside with the printed info, an RSVP envelope matching the folded outer, and an RSVP card matching the information piece on the inside, correct? And maybe one more card for reception info?

I found Michael''s kits to be kinda eh. I love paper-source but it can be pricey...let me know the amounts etc and I''ll try to do some number crunching for you... you see, once you have the pieces the rest can be easy... first off, you can get someone else to do the actual wording layout.. (I can point you in the right way) that can cost say $50 if you don''t do it yourself. Then Kinko''s can cut and print for you... then it''s just a matter of assembling... and you can get help there, pointers here... or there''s other options... Once that all adds up though it can be either cheaper or most costly to pay someone, depends!

Oh and ps, glue sticks or tape works best, they have tape runners that people use to affix cards these days. :)
