Hi Ken and welcome to pricescope.

What type of rocks did you used to hunt / find? Did you only do it in North Carolina or did you go to other places as well?

Was it for your personal pleasure or was it your business that sent you to gem shows?

Any pictures you have of your cabbing / carving would be nice to see. We like lots of pictures on pricescope

mac,i hunted rocks mostly in north carolina.about a mile from where i live they mined quartz crystals in the 1920,s and 30,s.this was what got me interested in gemstones.there was a lot of mica mining done in n.c. during the second world war and there was a lot of aquamarine and golden beryl found.i started cutting some cabs in the mid 60''s and then started carving gemstones in 1968.i exhibited some at the gemshows and won some blue ribbons.people would come up to me at the shows and ask me to carve some for them and first thing i knew i was in the business and doing shows.i did mostly club shows on the east coast,we did the Tucson show a few years.in the early 80''s we adopted my grandaughter and when she started school we had to drop out of the shows.i still carve gemstones.i have a lot of pictures of some of my carvings on my computer but i don''t know how to put them on.you can see a few pictures at www.americanmastersofstone.com under Neaves.this is not a comercial site so i hope nobody cares for me to talk about it.thanks and best regards, ken

Ken~ Welcome to Pricescope!

I can''t imagine the fun you must have had walking around your own "back yard" hunting gems! You''re a welcome addition to our community!

If you do want to share pictures, you can email them to PS administration and they can size them for this forum.
