I did it 100% because I have no place to put a half a bottle of peroxide.

Try this.

Put one tablespoon HP and one tablespoon water in a glass, mix, use.

Or be a total slacker, like me: take a swig of HP from the bottle, get a small handful of water from the bathroom sink, put it in your mouth, and swish.

(I don't drink out of the milk carton, lol, but I'm the only one in the house who uses HP so I figure, what the heck.)

You can buy a commercial "pre-brush rinse" that contains hydrogen peroxide and tastes like mouthwash.

The bottle says to only use for two weeks at a time - so two weeks on, two weeks off is probably safe - to give your delicate mouth tissues a break.

Brushing after hydrogen peroxide might be more effective because the hydrogen peroxide weakens stains/plaque, also salivation during brushing will help to get any leftover hydrogen peroxide out of the mouth.

Peroxide is an oxidant and slowly destroys all tissue
(remember people take anti-oxidants to prevent cancer)

stay safe people

Thanks HopeDream.
I do not want to advocate anything that would be harmful to anyone.

I love PS because there are so many knowledgeable people here.

How funny.
The reason I keep the bottle diluted to 50/50 is so I can swig it right from the bottle.

I guess I should clean the bottle''s opening with HP to kill my germs.

It takes a while to get black hairy tongue, don''t worry, but its still not safe to use full strength because of the free radicals.

Listerine Whitening rinse works really well for a lot of my patients. Crest Strips are still the best buy.

Wow! Thanks so much for the tip, Kenny! I have been wanting to whiten my teeth for sometime. Thanks again!!!!

Just started trying Kenny''s HP/H20 mixture tonight. The fizzy foamyness is kinda yucky, but it tastes just fine. Although, my tummy feels kinda funny. (Maybe too much vino at dinner????)

Tummy feels funny?
I hope you didn't swallow it.
You're supposed to spit it out.

Oh My! What HAVE I done?
If you swallowed it you must mail me all your diamonds immediately.

Okay, I''m going to buy a bottle of HP tomorrow and try this. The WhiteStrips make my sensitive teeth ACHE!

Growing up, one of my mom''s medical books had pictures of black hairy tongue and my sisters and I would always flip to that section and cringe, then show our friends.

In college, I''d freak my roommate out by making my desktop background image a picture of black hairy tongue. I hope it''s not my destiny to get it for being a PITA my whole life!!

Back in old days, we used something like ground chalk (I think it was ground chalk - the cheapest product I ever saw) and it was the best thing I ever used.
No side effects at all.
I shall try hydrogen peroxide. My mother used soap instead of toothpaste (talk of washing your mouth with soap) but she had the whitest teeth ever, and not a single cavity till the rest of her life.

AB (or anyone) -- how long do you rinse with the HP? Kenny, one minute? Was that arbitrary or based on anything? It seems reasonable, but I have no idea! Maybe its too long -- maybe too short??

I will forever fear black hairy tongue

See, cleanliness can be dangerous!

As I wrote in my opening post, my dental hygienist told me about this.

I am no authority on this, just passing along what she told me because I am pleased with the results I see on my teeth.

Everyone should do their own research and are responsible for making their own decision.
