I hope it is too.

Me too. :nono:
It never should have happened, and has devastated & destroyed countless lives, both in the ocean and on land.

I hope so too. What a tragedy. We will be feeling the effects for years to come. :nono:

I'm praying hard with you all. We're in NO and the oil gusher is all we've been hearing, seeing, smelling, etc. lately.

Tonight at dinner, dh raised his wine glass and toasted to the stoppage of the spewing. Let's hope they've got it for good!

Wow, Gayletmom, my heart especially goes out to you and your family because you are so close to it. My FI is headed over to Lousiana to help with the relief, and I am sure it is so much worse to be there than it is to watch on TV. I was watching Anderson Cooper last night and he had a segment on the rising number of pets who have been abandoned because people have lost their livelihood and can't support them any longer. I know this is just one small part of the many issues facing those close to the spill, and it just broke my heart. Seeing people lose everything, and knowing that the repercussions won't end with just a cap is really just devastating.

+1.

It made me sick to see the oil spew into our ocean everytime I turned on MSNBC. Let's hope that this IS it, and they can focus on cleaning up our oceans and beaches.

Definitly hoping they've got it this time! It just took way to long :(( .

there's been enough devastation for sure--- i really hope it's over now. it's a horrible situation.

SBS, you are right that there are so many levels to this mess. Please tell you FI how much we appreciate his efforts. It's hard to face that we need other people to help us yet again but the truth is that we do.

There was a followup story on CNN today about the amazing amount of calls they had from people that wanted to adopt some of those animals. It really made you feel good to know that so many in that area would step up to take those animals into their homes.

It has been a terrible tragedy for so many - I can only hope that this is the beginning of the end to this nightmare. I realize it will take a long time to clean up but at least stopping the oil provides a good starting point for what will be a massive clean up effort.

MissGotRocks: Thanks for the update! I am SO happy to hear that. I had a feeling that people would adopt those dogs once they saw the problem on CNN. In fact, I even thought Anderson might adopt the adorable little black puppy who kept licking his face. I'm sure someone will give him a good home. :)

Gayletmom: Thanks for your kind words. My FI is a firefighter, and always feels so helpless during these disasters. He is so happy to finally be getting a chance to help in some way.
