iLander...My sad little lost ring is hoping to be found...!

Last weekend I bought the cutest little labradorite ring in Aspen. Instead of wearing it on the plane (which I should have done!) I put it away to bring home. And now it's MIA... ;(

Here are all the details I can think of:

- The ring has a blue/green stone and is set in a yellow bezel
- It was in a small velvet pouch that said "Pitkin County Dry Goods"
- The pouch was in a small dark purple box
- The box was in a white plastic bag (like a grocery bag)

Some likely sencarios:

- I put the white bag down on the bed while I was packing and may have overlooked it because the bedding was also white so it wouldn't have stood out (which is the most likely scenario, but I called the hotel and they said they didn't find anything)
- I put it in my bright red patent leather carry on bag and it fell out (in taxi, at airport, in overhead bin on plane)
- I put it in my grey roller luggage and someone took it (although I hope that's not the case becuase I tend to hope more of people)
- Something else?!?

I've called the hotel (no dice), the Aspen airport lost and found (again, nothing), and the taxi service lost and found (still waiting to hear back from them), and also emailed the airline, but no word back from them either.

Any other ideas?

Thank you SO much!!!

Hi Dee*Jay,
I'm not iLander but just wanted to send you ***dust*** for you to find your ring! Good luck!!

Any chance it slipped into the lining of one of your bags? Sometimes the lining has a break in it and it's amazing what finds its way into them.

Missy -- thank you for the idea. I keep searching all the luggage and clothing I had with me, but nothing so far. I have a weird feeling it will show up though!

Re: iLander...My sad little lost ring is hoping to be found.

No pictures are coming in, sorry. :((

But I would be very careful with the garbage you throw out and I would check the closet floor.

Re: iLander...My sad little lost ring is hoping to be found.

Ack -- I was afraid it may have been thrown away (either by me or the maids... ;( )

As for the closet floor; I will take a look around my closets at home. I can't imagine how it would have gotten there, but I am sometimes surprised by where things turn up!

Thank you iLander!!!

Re: iLander...My sad little lost ring is hoping to be found.

I also just emailed the hotel and asked them to check the closet for me because there are shelves in there with extra pillows and blankets and I suppose I could have put it there...?

(I always feel like such a dufus when I do things like this!!! )

I hope you find it DeeJay! I know that feeling... iLander helped direct me, so I hope the hints here pay off for you!

Can I get in on the find stuff vibes? I lost a bracelet I literally just had made. It was a thin figaro chain, with a bezel set OEC that was around 30 points dangling from it, all in yellow gold (the bracelet was a little darker gold than the bezel, as it was an older piece that was a gift from my gram). Last I remember having it, it was sitting on my nightstand, and I took a few pictures of it. I don't remember putting it back on, or putting it in my jewelry box. I tore apart my house and office, and have been unable to find it so far. I hadn't had it more than a week.

Re: iLander...My sad little lost ring is hoping to be found.

Thanks Enerchi! And I am SO glad you were able to find your lovely things! I had the people at the hotel specifically look in the closet again, but nothing... I guess it's really gone. ;( I also called the store and they said they can contact the designer and have another one made, but I'm hesitate because they had two there when I bought mine and I liked the stone on that one but really didn't like the stone on the other one, so I probably have to see them in person because there's so much variation.

Oh Manderz--I really hope you find your bracelet!!! I'm sure you've already looked around thoroughly, but do you happen to have small children or cats, or any other implike creature that may have spirited it off to a different place? Hopefully iLander will be able to see something that helps you!

Re: iLander...My sad little lost ring is hoping to be found.

Thanks DeeJay- I was thrilled, to say the least, about finding my rings. iLander ROCKS!!

That's a shame that you haven't had any luck. I remember someone telling a 'dropped in the boot' story about retrieving lost goods - was that you? I'm sure you've gone thru the obvious - purse, (I know you did the suitcase), pockets, make up bag, socks, anything rolled up? I know i put things away to be "safe"... only to never be heard from again! You sure have gone to great lengths to try and find it. Maybe if you go for the replacement, it just might turn up on its own! I think sometimes the lost items have this mind set that they wait till you act... then they show up! (and no, I don't really think they "THINK" but it sure seems to happen that way! Had to clarify that I'm not totally off the wall hahaha! :twirl: )

I can't pull see things when I want to, I wish I could. Here's some generalized helpful advice, for what it's worth.

Dee Jay, I hate to say it, but I think the bag was on the bed, the maid stripped the bed, tossed it all in the cart, then it went into a giant washer. Probably at a linen service. :(sad

Manderz, did you try your pockets? And the bottom of the washer, under the spinny thing?

Re: iLander...My sad little lost ring is hoping to be found.

iLander, I will check, but I think they do their laundry on site at the hotel. GREAT idea though! I will call right now!

I did, thanks. And we have a front loader, so no agitator.

I do have a cat, but he doesn't have my crow-like personality. He's never been into shinies. Now, plants, on the other hand...

ILander, wow! I've been following some of the lost bling posts you rock! Manderz I don't have ILander's abilities but I'd just got check your plants, there might be some bling in the earth....... worth a shot I guess.
