I voted EC

I don’t yet have my e-ring, but it’s in the works — a 3 stone with a rather elongated (1.5 ratio) 3.75 EC and skinny traps in platinum.

As my secondary engagement ring (as if), I might choose an old cut (thanks a lot, PS). Likely an enormous elongated antique cushion solitaire with sharp, sexy double claws. For example (video screenshot, so diamond doesn’t look its best):

But dream of dreams would be a vulgarly gargantuan emerald cut, no/insignificant oil Muzo emerald ring. As a secondary e-ring, I’d only wear it on occasions in which I wouldn’t have to lift a finger.

Either an antique moval or antique pear…I love steps cut too, but I’m drawn to organic shapes slightly more

2-2.5 carats would be fabulous

as white as possible

I wanted this antique pear soooo badly but it was out of budget…it was 1.99 carats, G color…

Wouldn’t sneeze at this 3 carat F color moval from Tiffany’s either

An ostentatiously gigantic OEC or antique cushion cut solitaire. I mean 6+ carat.

I do really love asschers but when I tried on a 5ct modern cut asscher it just looked (on me) huge and really flashy. Probably because I have small fingers. I felt like I’d be self conscious about it when I went back to the U.K. That’s not my usual feeling and I happily wear very big coloured stones all the time - and regularly drip with sapphires at the supermarket where I live now!

But somehow a huge diamond ENGAGEMENT ring felt different - like I was greedy or something. Or a typical Dubai blingy expat.

BUT if it was an OEC or other old cut in an antique looking setting I reckon I’d pull it off even in England as people would think it was inherited or an estate piece. Not realising that I’m the diamond guzzling, jewellery hog that I truly am. Whenever anyone commented I’d just say vaguely “oh it’s a family ring”…. Well it would be. It’d be mine, and I have a family!

OMG, THUD!!!!!!! :kiss2:

I have a MRB and an Emerald Cut, but if I could get a third I would go for a 7ct (minimum) Weingarten Mixed Cut. Time to start playing the lottery!

Define engagement ring…

Spouse has two. First was the obligatory one-ct-ish RBC. Second was (is) a very old vivid but not super-showy sapphire solitaire in a pretty but low-key-looking ring.

Define engagement ring…

A ring one wears to show he/she is in love with each other and who promise to be each other's soft place to fall when life gets difficult and who supports each other through the good and bad and all the in between.

Two people who love each other and want to spend their lives together.

Two people who are crazy about each other and promise to build a life together.

Two soulmates who cannot imagine living without the other.

For me, an engagement ring is a ring I wear on my left ring finger (USA) and is a symbol of the love my DH and I share and our promise to be together through it all. Our commitment to one another.

Or whatever definition you please. :)

No, they'd just think you're an Influencer (capital "I") with seven figures in followers and an athlete fiancee who, even after Googling, you are not completely sure who he is...

I tried these rings pretty recently and fell in love with both. When I purchase another ring I will most probably choose a fancy yellow diamond or maybe a square cut emerald one. I would be happy with a stone that is 5+ carat:love:.3A3F9865-2EFB-489A-B123-9967FEB45E6D.jpegAC14AAB1-0ED2-431F-959C-EE41AA096922.jpeg

I love the fancy yellow on you!!

I'd just like everything larger lol! I would love a 3 carat super ideal and a 2.5 carat AVR! I would still keep my original wedding set. So I'm up to 3! I also want a 3 stone super ideal and I have my 3 stone avc in the works! I love diamonds...ok now I'm up to 5! Thus us dreaming and life is good. I'm thrilled with what I have and am very grateful. It's fun to dream and maybe one day these dreams come true!

If it has to be a ring my husband buys for me then nvm. :)

Wow, this is too tough!!! I already have 2 engagement-like rings….but if I were to choose 2 more, it would be an oval 3+ carat and an emerald 5+carat. The elongated shapes flatter me most.

No it doesn't have to be a ring your DH buys for you. I did not include that in my definition. It can be anything you want it to be and more power to you if you are buying it for yourself. :appl:

Ok! I have a lot of diamond rings so was not sure how to answer the question. Maybe I will post pics tomorrow.

These are my current rings......I don't have room for any more......or do I? I would choose an OEC in an antique setting made in platinum :cool2:

Ok, I defined engagement ring as a “ring with a center stone that is a diamond.” Which does not need to be true for other people but that is the definition I’ll use to show the ”engagement” rings I have. Hubby bought me one of them.

I am missing a heart, a radiant, and a modern oval. I have an emerald cut but it is on a pendant.

Keep in mind these are small diamonds compared to lots of PS’ers!

Although I have two diamond engagement rings, one is a RB and the other is a cushion cut. I prefer my slightly elongated cushion cut. I’d love a cushion cut yellow sapphire in a white RB diamond halo.

Well I kind of already have two rings, one white and one yellow diamond. But if I could have another I'd pick an asscher cut.

Oh I am late to this but loved reading it! I find it funny that a lot of you with gorgeous OECs would go emerald. My latest is an emerald but my next would be an OEC! I think I’m going to get an OEC pendant made from OWD just to scratch the itch…

ER's? One, an elongated cushion sol.. two.. rb six prong.. both two tone 18k yg. Simple for me.
