the size of mine is awkward. I say 2.7 instead of 2.71. I feel like I can''t say it is 2.75 because that is just as awkward to say and it feels like a lie... I think it is too far from 2.5 so I just say 2.7. If I was at 2.48 I would eat the lie to just say two and a half. But two and three quarters is a mouthfull lol![]()
Well to be fair, if it was 2.57 I would still say 2 and a half.
Nobody has asked me either (or at least that I can remember). With my earrings, people have asked and I''ve said the exact weight and usually the person will look confused by my answer. lol Since mine are .82, I don''t want to go down and say 3/4 nor go up and say 1 ct, so it just makes sense to say their weight.Date: 6/20/2010 3:21:43 PM

No one has ever asked!I rarely ever get comments on my ring but do notice people looking sometimes. The few people who have made a reference to my ring just compliment its appearance and sparkle and general size.![]()
But if someone asked I would say ''1.7cts''. It is in fact 1.666cts, but what is .044cts among friends.
No one knows jack about diamonds. You can tell them it is half a carat and they would probably just nod!Date: 6/22/2010 12:49:00 AM

Interesting threadsomeday (sigh!) im thinking ill be looking at an EC centre stone between 1.6 and 1.8, but i live in a small town and im worried it will be OTT for here...i was going to say something like ''its just over a carat i think''.![]()
Do you think i can get away with that? people here will ask (small town = nosey) but i figure an EC will face up smaller and be unusual enough that they wont realise?![]()
Do people really care about the carat weight of melee stones? I never mention my melee stones, in fact I don't even know how much they weigh lolDate: 6/22/2010 12:06:18 AM

I say that mine is a full carat for the center but total is 1.7 if they ask specifically about the center stone and then the setting.
If it's someone random that just glanced and then asked I would say 1.7 and not specify what the size of the center stone is.

I do get a lot of compliments on my ring, but I''ve never been asked the size. If another diamond lover asked me about my ring, I would get into the specs in detail. Unfortunately, I rarely into anyone who has this interest, except online![]()

I think you might be surprised how little attention people will pay to the size of your diamondI worried about my new diamond being OTT and in fact it is totally UTR -- under the radar![]()

I''m with Dreamer on this one. It''s weird, but actually no one notices.. I was worried too when I upgraded, gosh this thing is too big - there were a few who care about this stuff and noticed , I catch some glances here and there,- but honestly you can walk around with a stone twice the size and it''s under the radar... this is a special group on PS who really pay attention and love this, but in the real world, its just not a big deal

And those of us who do notice (is anyone here the lady on the tube with long black hair and what must be the 2 carat asscher cut? or the woman at my vet's office with the 5 or 7 stone honking OEC band?) don't say anything out of fear that the poor woman will think we're weird rather than just a bit obsessed.
