I would do the payout, split the money with DH, and start my own cat/dog sanctuary. He'd put his into motorcycles and helping people. I prefer animals.

I would donate a new high tech facility for housing at least 80 dogs with a dog park and 250 cats, including a high tech medical lab and enough money for staffing for 10 years to one of the no-kill rescues that have policies and standards I agree with. I'd also include land acreage for a feral rescue/colony. Dh and I believe that there are several really good organizations who are doing it right, and instead of starting from ground zero and wasting time and money to get it right, we'd rather just become a benefactor for an existing group and give them a big boost both in capacity and funding, but in medical and lab capability as well. If I won it ALL? I would do this around the country. It wouldn't just be one facility we would do this with. It would be at least 4, but more likely 6-8 of them.

Wouldn't it be great to give all the homeless guys another chance at love and life? It's the only reason I think about winning.

I am not buying a ticket. I was saying earlier this week, there is no way in hell I'd ever want to win that jackpot.

I think I understand why you're saying that but still... Life would be a lot easier if there were no money worries/issues KWIM?
I know statistically speaking it seems lottery winners don't enjoy happiness after their winnings but much of that stems from not being thoughtful enough as to what you are going to do with that money. If you know how to manage your winnings and don't go overboard I think winning would be quite the boon. At least from my perspective. It would sure be nice not to have to worry about work security, expenses etc.

Don't get me wrong. I'd happily take 1 million. Or even 10. But not THIS jackpot. Not 650 million. I don't even want a CHANCE that I'd ever win that kind of money.

And I don't really have money "worries" right now (although there could be if anything terrible happened). I like my life. I suppose that makes me richer than I actually am. ::)

T-gal - I totally get that. I bought a few tickets this time, but... there's always a moment when I think **** what if I actually win? I don't know that I'd really want my world turned upside-down like that! (then again, I think I could adjust... in time :wink2: )

46, 23, 38, 4, 2 and megaball 23 are the numbers. No win over here ;(

i bought 99 tickets. i never check my tickets unless i hear that one of the winning tickets were purchased in my area.

You could have won one of the tickets that don't get announced (smaller wins).

On the positive side I actually did pick one number correctly. That's a first. 8)

Very very first thing I would do is pay off the house and the orphanage my parents are building. It was started by one of their friends who ran out of money and now my parents have taken on the load. Very first thing, no question.

After that, I would take a year off work to go on a private cruise around the world. I would go on safari, see all the unesco heritage sights, ride the orient express. All that jazz. I would take my dearest husband as my travelling companion. We would eat at the fat duck, el bulli, per se and every michelin starred restaurant on the planet. It would be awesome.

Then I would send all the 125 members of my extended family on an amazing holiday, wherever they wanted. We would charter our own plane of course. Maybe we would go to Australia, or the Rockies.

Then I would buy the most wonderful, secluded house complete with a heated outdoor pool for my water-loving husband.

Then I would buy art. Klimt. Hockney. Canaletto. Kahlo. Monet. Vermeer.

I would buy huge Kashmiri sapphires, Colombian emeralds and Burmese rubies. A giant Paraiba tourmaline. Alexandrite. Fancy diamonds as big as eggs.

My husband will be needing supercars. A Lamborghini to start with. A Porsche 911. A few more motorbikes. A jetski. A speedboat. A hovercraft. Boy has a speed problem.

I would set up as many charities as I would. For humans, animals and plants. Save the rainforest. A donkey sanctuary. Brazilian street kids. Homeless in London.

I would adopt as many kids as possible and make like angelina jolie (without the good looks and constant pouting).

By this time, I will have no money left and will die happy.

I never play the lottery, but writing all that was fun.
