I am so very sorry, Danny. They must have been lost and didn't know which way to go or something (which is not an excuse, of course). That is a danger with tourists. The last accident I was in, ironically, I was stopped in the road with my left turn signal on waiting to turn and the car behind me wasn't paying attention and plowed into the back of me going 45-50 without slowing down. My car was 1 month old. I am only mentioning that because your accident was so similar to mine, other than I knew where I was going and had my signal on!

DS, I assume you weren't badly hurt or you would have said? If not, I'm glad! I was definitely heartbroken that I hit them. That was one of the reasons I couldn't stop crying. You know I enjoy your posts and I appreciate your support. Thank you.

Danny, I am so sorry about your accident and that your car was totalled. I am so glad that you were not gravely injured. I know that is not that much consolation right now. Hugs.

It helped that you and all of you have said that- that is a great consolation.

Thank you.

Ok, I HONESTLY and SINCERELY hope I have answered each of you. IF I have not, please know that it was NOT intentional. I APPRECIATE the kindness you have ALL shown me. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

I hope you'll understand but I'm so tired and so right now I'm going to go get a bling fix! I need to read about and look at some bling! Heaven knows my wrecked car will still be there in the morning to be dealt with. I rested today but I have been in something of a fog since the instant this happened.

And no you can't have the pad in the WF calender. By the time you read this my jewel thief will be long gone with it! I KEED! I KEED! :wavey:

The MOST important thing is that you're OK. The rest would have to figure itself out.

I am not sure what the laws there are like, but sadly here no matter whose fault it is for stopping, if you hit them you are 100% liable for damages. This even applies if the person deliberately cuts in front of you and slams on the brakes to cause the accident on purpose.

Don't start smoking again... I'm sure everything will calm down. Again, so glad you're ok. That's the only thing that really matters.

Thank you, Tristan. No, I won't smoke. I promise you.

I'm so sorry Danny! What a shock. Good on you for not smoking, that is a fantastic achievement.

Danny, you are so wonderful to have taken the time to reply to everyone!! You are so thoughtful and YOU are the one suffering!! Your mom did a good job with you, Danny :halo:

But seriously now..... What did you say to your landlord about the skanky girlfriend parking, staying over and the loud and crazy sex capades?. :?: :Up_to_something: Enquiring minds want to know!!!

Oh my goodness!!! SO asked me the same thing. LOL!

I called him up today and told him we needed to talk. He said he and a friend ( :? ) were just leaving so we could meet outside. Great!

So, I go outside and around front, go in his garage, and sit down next to his riding mower (I'm a casual kind of person).

His girlfriend walks down the stairs straight in front of me.

I have never seen her before. She's a lot younger and prettier than I imagined (he's 60, I guess it's the money? LOL! I don't know).

So I immediately get up, walk toward her, and as she steps off the bottom rung of the stairs, I shake her hand and look her in the eyes.

I couldn't help myself.

I said, "You're very pretty!"

She said, "So are you!"

Hahaha!

I said, "Well, that was a good first meeting."

So then he walks out. In a good mood. Oh, and maybe he heard me screaming ostensibly talking to SO about how he wasn't going to see a dime of my money unless he shut up and how today was a very bad day to mess with me. :saint:

So I showed him the car and explained to him that SO now has to (and it's true- it's incredible but it's true) walk miles (two or three) to the bus stop, take two buses to work, and do the same to get home (for a total of 4 hrs!).

I told him that it was now essential that SO was able to sleep and that it would be good if we all could be quiet after a certain time.

9 PM. Tonight they were perfect. We'll see.

He had asked me what noises I heard. SO asked me if I mentioned the sex. LOL!

No, I mentioned every single thing in a (long) list, except the sex, about which I said absolutely nothing.

Thanks for asking! And I'll tell my mother what you said. :)) :wavey:

You didn't mention the sex?!?!?!  Bummer! Would have loved to hear what he had to say about that
Good first meeting tho so maybe another time, if it starts up again. Hopefully this will clear up issues you've had with him and this could be the "good" that comes from this accident.. Karma is unpredictable...

Tell your mom for sure!! I'd love to hear from someone if they thought my boys were amazing young men now!!! (and it would have been all cuz of me.....no outside or paternal influences at all..... )

And forgot to mention before, but I'm so glad you didn't grab those cigarettes in a time of stress!!! Awesomeness!!! As an FYI remember I mentioned that men we sent to hospital with COPD? He's still there...and probably noy moving home because of his damaged lungs. Sad.

(sorry - totally un related to your OP!! Apologies.... :blackeye: )

Oh, I'm sure they are! And they're very lucky to have a mother like you! You have such amazing, positive energy! Tell them I said they have an amazing mother because it's true. :)) :wavey:

I'm flattered that any of you let alone several of you thought to mention my cigarette cessation! I couldn't go back to that because quitting was so very difficult. People can say it shouldn't be as hard as it is for me, but you know what, sorry, but that's the reality- I quit and I just physically and emotionally go into almost a blackout period. I mean I really think it's dangerous. I don't think I should smoke again primarily because I don't think I could handle smoking physically, I don't think it helps me, or anyone, emotionally, and I'd just have to do the responsible thing and quit again, and I can't go through that again.

I'm very sorry to hear about that man you sent to the hospital with COPD. Cigarette addiction, like any drug addiction, is a tragic thing.

Aw --- I'm falling deeper and deeper in love with you  :halo: :D  I am H U G G I N G you from Canada! ;))

My oldest son thinks Im funny, my middle son thinks I'm (at best...) tolerable, and my daughter --- well, she's just royalty and the commoners (such as myself and her dad) are just a means to an end!

Yeah, smoking is a serious addiction and quitting - although it is the typical NY resolution for most smokers - is not an easy task. It takes weeks for the nicotine to get out of your system. It is a drug - a legalized drug - loaded with toxins, so for those who manage to beat the addiction (or are on the road to conquering it), such as yourself, it is a huge success! It is a physiological and psychological adjustment and in times of stress - like a huge event such as a car accident - many revert back to familiar coping mechanisms. I'm so proud that you have come this far in your progress to not go back there!!! YAY YAY YAY!!

:appl: :appl: :appl:

Danny, I'm glad to hear you're okay.

awww ((((danny)))) I'm sorry!

Sarah, thank you. Talking to my SO and starting this thread really has helped me put things in perspective and I am so very grateful that I didn't hurt anyone and that I wasn't hurt. Not having a car, at least for some time, is going to be challenging, but life is challenging. I've dealt with worse. I'll deal with this. Hugs!

Hugs! Thank you. You've helped me so much in this thread and with quitting smoking.

I am going to call my mother today and will tell her what you said and about this wonderful outpouring of support I have received at PS.

Hello my PS Peeps, this Is Danny reporting to you from the bus. I'm doing the 4 hr rd trip thing. SO was thinking about doing these errands but I vetoed that. OMG, I get on the bus and see "Recaro" plastered on the driver's seat. Recaro was the OEM of my Audi A6 2.8q's seats! Oh, how the "mighty" have fallen!

All I can say is thank the heavens for the invention of the iPod.

Later.

OMG. The bus was in an accident. We had to wait about an hour for the Police to come, yadda, yadda.

But I didn't miss my connection. The bus finally took us to the next hub and I get on my second bus soon.

And then I walk 3 miles.

Wow. :o

Wow, that blows, Danny. So sorry to hear this! Isn't Hawaii a no-fault state, anyway? Don't both peoples insurance cover half? My sister was hit a few moths ago outside the Pukalani Superette, and even though the other guy made a left turn right into her, she still had to pay half. Anyways, I'm so sorry you are having to deal with this--take care of yourself!!!!

I've only just seen this. I'm so sorry to hear about your accident Danny. You must have been really scared. I hope you are feeling a little better now and not so upset. Hugs!

ImDanny, you are such a beautiful person... I am so sorry this happened to you but also SO happy that you are OK.

I hope you win the lottery to make up for this! Good karma is headed your way!!!!! And angels were definitely watching out for you that day. Soooooo happy you are OK, my friend. Clearly, you are meant to live a long and happy life full of beauty and prosperity. Things have a funny way of working themselves out. Hugs.

ImDanny, first, glad you're okay! Second, I wanted to give you some heads up in case you haven't any experience in this kind of accident. If you've heard it all before, then please ignore it.

A few years down the road, when you have moved on with your life and completely put this behind you, these people might slap you with a court order. That's what happened to me. I totalled my car a few years ago. It was my fault, the other car barely had a scratch, and everything was settled. 2 years later I received a huge thick envelope with a court order. The other people were suing me claiming that his injury was so bad that he lost his job, which was completely untrue.
The process wasn't bad at all. My insurance company handled everything and I didn't have to lift a finger. Luckily I had kept all the original documents so I remembered exactly what happened. The case was eventually dismissed, but it still took about a year for that to happen. It was just unbelievable that I had to deal with this so long after I have moved on and felt better about myself. I was so angry that I was shaking for a week after I received the court summons.

Anyway, since you said that the people you were involved with were tourists, I doubt this will happen to you but I thought it will be nice to know if you didn't already.

I would have LOVED to see your neighbor's reaction had you mentioned the sex! If it happens next time, I suggest you record the sound and let them hear it!

Thank you. For people who don't know that's a great little one off mini-supermarket of sorts and they have the best cucumber salad ever. Namasu, it's Japanese and this is my own spelling. I can't answer your question. I will ask my insurance company! I keep hearing about "no fault" but I don't know what it means.
