Ok, so I posted earlier about jewelry, and now I have a veil question. Here is the OP.
https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/accessory-questions.94264/
Now my questions is about the type of veil to wear. I was thinking a 2-teir fingertip veil (so I''d have a blusher) but I also love the look of the cathedral veil - very elegant. I just get worried it may be too much for me to deal with. Also I had wanted to wear the veil during the reception, so a cathedral veil is impractical, but what about a cathedral veil for the ceremony then change to a shorter veil (or would it be smarter just to abandon the idea of a veil at the reception)?

I''m also planning on making the veil, so it''s not going to be very costly, so price-wise, two veils wouldn''t be impractical.

I''m just torn because the longer veils can look so great in photos, but my dress already has a lot going on (see OP for link) including organza pickups and laceup back, and I want the veil to accent the dress, not overwhelm it. I have also read about people who say that the long veil can be such a pain in the butt to deal with. FWIW, I''m getting married in a church in the evening, so it''s going to be pretty traditional in that respect.

The devil is in the details, that''s for sure..

Help!!!! :)

Cammy, I''m in the same position! I want a cathedral length veil for the ceremony, then possibly change to a shorter one for the reception.

Has anyone on here ever made their own mantilla style veil? I want lace on the edges of both of mine!!! But that gets pricey!

Cammy, check out Occansey designs...they have been emailing me back and forth, trying to find something I like and can afford. They can pretty much make whatever you want! And they are supposed to be reasonably priced (according to other PS''ers)

Good luck!!! Post pics if you find anything!

Hi cammy! You said you love the look of the cathedral veil -- so go for it! I don''t think it would be too much with your dress since it would just be long and sheer and wouldn''t cut it off (visually) anywhere. I''d stick with a 1-layer cathedral length veil unless you plan to actually use the blusher. As far as dealing with it, you''ll probably only have it on for pictures and the ceremony and then you can switch to a shorter veil for the reception.

Take my advice FWIW because I plan to wear a long veil for the ceremony and then have a shorter veil for the reception. This is the only time I''ll ever get to wear a veil and I want one on all night!

It is totally fine to have 2 different veils, you can get them inexpensively, and a cathedral one for walking around seems difficult. My fingertip (well, fingertip on a shorter person) kept getting caught on stuff, so can't imagine managing something longer. Get two, you can find a good deal.

Your dress is gorgeous! Wear it in good health!

I vote for 2, too. You''ll have your photos taken in the long one. The reception version can be shorter and simpler.

Your dress is very pretty!! You look beautiful.

I love the look of the cathedral veil with your dress. If you don''t use any embellishments on the veil and keep it to 1 tier (or 1 tier with a blusher), I don''t think it overwhelms the dress at all. If you have your MOH/bridesmaids to help you drape the veil properly before you walk down the aisle (both times!) you should be fine.

Personally I would dispense with the veil at the reception, but that''s just my taste, I am not a huge veil person. I don''t see any reason you shouldn''t do a second, shorter veil if you want to.

Definitely a 1 layer, very sheer cathedral veil with that dress. Warning: I''m wishing I could have just such a veil, so you may need a grain of salt.

That said, I think wearing one at the reception might be more fun in concept than in actual execution. If the main events of the evening are hugging, eating, drinking and dancing, none of those things are going to be made easier by wearing a veil.

I totally appreciate all your input so far. And the more I see it the omre I am falling in love with the simple cathedral veil. I think it gives the ''bride'' look with teh dress and matches the formality of it all without being stuffy.

Lanie: Thanks so much for the tip, their website is so helpful - I had no idea there were so many options!

lovesparklies, swingirl, marchswallowbird and pjean - I see where you all are coming from in terms of for/against the veil at the reception. I''m thinking my happy medium might be a nice decorated hair comb or headpiece that is simple, but still would stand out a little bit if I decide against the shorter veil for the reception. I''m just so scared I''ll sit on it or something and rip it out of my hair (I tend to be a touch accident prone!) That, or lean over a couple votive candles and have my veil go up in flames!

swimmer: thank you so much for the compliment. I love the dress I have and it''s so much girlier than I would have expected. But I''m in love. :)

You guys are awesome. Keep up the comments if you can, I love hearing other people''s opinions!
