This is fun!!

Is it good?

(At first I thought you had achieved some sort of goddess-hood)

lol! I achieved Goddess long ago!

Yes, the divinity is fantastic!

Too funny!

I saw your post and was going to rush in to warn you to NOT use your handmixer because mine died that way too.

You know... my grandmother has a nice stand mixer now but I watched her make this stuff for years with a cheap handmixer she got at a yard sale.... How???!!!!??

Give the cherries a try too. They make a different flavor... not "better" but... divinity with a delicious twist.

Well, thanks for the LATE heads-up! lol I don't know how a handmixer could stand up to divinity. Maybe they used to be made better?

I don't like cherries in it. When I was a kid I tried tons of varieties. I like the plain or with nuts. Or putting it in hot cocoa. It's like the most delicious marshmallow ever.

True!

The first batch I attempted on my own (with the dead handmixer.... 2 actually :nono: ) never did get beaten enough so it didn't set properly. What I got was THE best marshmallow creme EVER and went amazing on hot chocolate, icecream, brownies...

Yeah... They had to have been made better in past years. Maybe the assumption now is that if you actually do any sort of real mixing you use a stand mixer?

Love your blog! That divinity looks wonderful!

SS--I LOVE divinity...my dad and I used to make it (with varied results) when I was a kid, every winter. Humidity was a big factor in whether it turned out, I remember. If it didn't turn out, we'd go to the local candy store (Hoover's!) and buy some to get our "fix."

I like it plain or with nuts, same as you. One of these years I'll try it myself, I actually have my great-grandmother's recipe as well. I'll ask my mother to dig it up so I can share it with you, we can compare notes. Glad yours turned out!

I had to look this up, Wasn't familiar with divinity.. Is it anything like a meringue?

Monnie~ Try it and share!! I'd love to hear about it!

It tastes kind of like Cadbury filling but fluffy/whipped. That's as close as I can describe it.

The hot cocoa with divinity drop was delicious. It gets all melty, gooey at the bottom and mixes in a bit. Then you just scoop it up and eat it. yum!

Thanks for reading, everyone!

I think my next endeavor will be home made raviola!
