I had been hoping to visit a store in Chappaqua, New York whose website had caught my eye, but I was waiting for my friend and jewelry shopping partner to be well enough to accompany me.

She has not been up to par for several weeks and today I decided to make the trip alone. I did so at the last minute, arriving only an hour before closing time, which limited what I could do. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the store greatly. It is called, "Desires By Mikolay" and features the work of several jewelry designers, including the owner, Scott Mikolay, whom I met today. I also met a sales assistant in the store, Janice, who was extremely friendly and gave me a tour of the store which, she said, has (incredibly) only been open since 2004. I say, "incredibly" because it is so extensive and so full of beautiful pieces!

I tried on a few eternity rings, but nothing else. The ring which I had seen on-line and which I very much admired in person (see below) I did not ask to try on. Scott's ruby pieces were really spectacular...I mean BIG. I think the store is really worth a trip for anyone in the tri-state area. Does anyone else know it? (What a question!)

The ring below is from The Aragon Crown Collection (named after Queen Catherine of Aragon, first wife of King Henry VIII of England). Scott Mikloay also has a Boleyn Collection-it may be called The Boleyn Crown Collection or some such thing-named after Anne Boleyn, Henry VIII's second wife.

oooh, lovely

Those are beautiful. This may be a stupid question, but do you know if these lines are based off of real jewelry that the queens wore? Or perhaps designed in a similar style to what they wore?

I've shopped online at that store before, and MH purchased a Gabriel & Co sapphire band for me from them a few yrs back. I've also inquired about a few pieces from them, and they've always been super nice. Would love to make it there one day- they sure do seem like they have lots of pretty stuff!!!!

Do you have any more pics? :naughty:

We are SO happy you enjoyed our store! When we opened we wanted to bring a bit of Madison Avenue to downtown Chappaqua and strive to reach the highest standards in customer service.

In answer to the question about Scott's line, it is inspired by symbols and design of the time of the English Renaissance, but it is not actual replications-all designs are original.
