LOL I ate them, they were a little tough but they tasted ok. A 42 min egg, that reminds me of something funny.
When I got married, my wifey4ever thought it was hilarious that I boiled eggs for 25min when I made them.
It was what my mom always did.
I do the same thing with hardboiling eggs. I have an egg timer my mother gave me for this very reason. That timer has never made it out of the package. Oops.
Last summer I finally learned that I need a tea kettle which does not allow you to leave the whistling part up or off because a disabled whistling part can lead to a kettle left on a burning burner long after all the water has boiled off. Over the years, at least two very nice tea kettles have sacrificed their lives to this enlightenment. More recently, I have come to realize that the lid is also involved. So far my most recent tea kettle is surviving my education.
Learning is great, Wink!
Sharing what you've learned is even better!
I learned that scrambled eggs, when being cooked, like attention and don't appreciate it when the cook wanders off to take a 'quick' look at PS.
Don't feel bad Karl. Right after my parents divorced my dad called asking me how to make hard boiled eggs. At the age of 15 I didn't think it was a good idea. He decided one night at 10:00 pm he was going to make them. He put them on the stove and fell asleep. He awoke to the fire department at his door with the smoke detectors going off. How you sleep thru smoke detectors blaring is beyond me.
Here's a lesson: hard boiled eggs can become weapons of mass destruction. Years ago when I moved into a new house and was exhausted from marathon unpacking, I put a peeled hard-boiled egg in the microwave for 10 seconds to take the chill off. When I opened the door, the egg exploded, narrowly missing my eyes but splattering the rest of my face, the entire kitchen from ceiling to floor and all the walls, the dining room and even around a sharp corner into the living room. I forgot to pierce the egg before heating it. I was still finding bits of egg in odd places 3 years later.
