I just got the census form, and I don''t like it

No, I have to pay my income taxes because I would go to prison if I didn''t. The only thing I can do as a citizen is state that I pay them in protest, so I write a letter to include in my tax forms every year. Not quite sure what that has to do with the census, but am happy to answer the question.

I guess it has as much to do with the census as freedom does. Just wondering how strongly you felt about your convictions. You''re happy to protect your "freedom" by writing a check but not so worked up about it you''ll go to prison. I understand now. Thanks!

My point was that I was exercising my freedom to refrain from answering those questions which invaded my privacy, as outlined by the constitution. Again, I don''t understand why you feel so personally insulted by this that you feel a need to lash out about it.

Last I checked you were the one attempting to personally insult me by stating that I don''t deserve freedom. Unless you meant that in some other way? But don''t worry-I didn''t actually feel insulted-just amused.

T2, I don''t think NEL was saying that you, specifically, don''t deserve freedom. I think she was making a more general statement.

Thanks, HH. I''d drafted a response stating that I was using plural so that T2 wouldn''t feel that I was speaking directly to her--just stating generally that the gov''t can''t take freedom from those (collective) who are willing to hand it over without protest. I deleted it because at this point I think T2 and I are both just getting a chuckle out of each other''s responses and it seemed pointless. In any case, T2, sorry if you felt I was isolating you...I was just responding to your comment about freedom.

I got it, filled it out, and sent it back. It's not big deal to me.

All I had to fill out was number of people who live in my residence (and ethnicities/race), names, ages, and dates of birth.
