Hello Ladies,
I was lucky enough to find this website after doing some research online about Cervical Cancer.
You see about 6 months ago I went to the doctor because I had a large lump in my breast I was sent in for a mamo and ultra sound with Stat orders. Well I am happy to say I was told I didn''t have breast cancer, however when my pap came back it said I have HPV. And I was referred to an OBGYN Specialist. After my first appointment with my new doctor I was given some type of vaginal gel and told to use it for a week and then scheduled to come back in 2 weeks for another Pap. When the pap results came back from the lab they indicated my results were now normal. Thats when my doctor told me, he would still like to see me in 3 months for another Pap. Well 3 months later I had my next Pap and this time the results came back just as they had the first time. And I was told I had abnormal cells. And scheduled for a conoscopi, and biopsy. As the doctor was looking inside me he said to his nurse he saw lots of irritation in the 12 oclock region, when I asked him about this comment he sid that it felt mushy when he pushed on my cervix and not firm as it should be. He decided to take 4 biopsies 1 from each of these positions 3,6,9 and 12 oclock areas.
When my test results came back this time they said I has sever dysplisia, and then I was scheduled for a LEEP 2 weeks later I had my LEEP and then again I had to wait for another week for the test results.
I was working out of town when the doctor received the lab reports from my LEEP, so the doctor called me to inform me, that I have Cervical Cancer, and the solution for this was to have a complete hysterectomy, and that would remove the Cancer. So I agreed, and faxed him all my paperwork so he could schedule my surgery. Now my question''s are as follows.
How does my doctor know how advanced my cancer is?
How can he say a Hystoremtomy will cure me?
What other choices do I have prior to having the Hystorectomy surgery?
I havent had an MRI, CAT Scan or any other testing to support his suggesting the hystorectomy to me.
The thing is I have never had heavy bleeding, discharge, irregular periods, or cramping. Aren''t these all symtoms that are associated with Cervical Cancer, or HPV, How could this be?
Also I have been trying to find out if women in a same sex relationship can pass HPV to one another.
Can anyone suggest any other test''s they may know of to help the doctor to knjow where exactly the cancer is, or how far it has spread?
What about me getting disability after the surgery, how long will I be able to collect this?
Thank You all for reading this blog and thanks for sharing your knowledge with me.
