My mom and sis flew in over Memorial Day weekend to go dress shopping with me. We had appointments at 4 places. I wasn''t actually thinking I would buy something while they were here, just thought we''d look around and get some ideas. Well, as fate would have it, at the 2nd store, I ended up coming across a brand new sample of a Lazaro gown I had tried on awhile back that was way out of my price range. In fact, I had only tried it on for fun b/c the saleswoman thought it might look nice on me. Well, it looked amazing, but it was also almost $5k(!) so I filed it away as a fantasy dress. I tried to look for it online but didn''t have any luck and figured I just had to be realistic and move on to something else.
Well, lo and behold, while we were pulling dresses to try on (btw, for all you Chicago girls still looking for a dress, I HIGHLY recommend you check out Wedding Belles in Barrington!) I spotted the dresses! I didn''t even look at the price tag, but pulled it b/c I thought it would nice to try it on again. We actually ended up liking the first 5 dresses I tried on
, but when I put this one on, my mom and sister both had that "oooh" expression. It finally came down to this dress and the first one I tried on...a very pretty Marisa that the store could order directly. The Lazaro was a sample, though, so if I didn''t buy it, it would go back on the rack and could''ve been picked up by the next customer.
Well, when I finally ventured to look at the price tag, I was shocked to see that it was only $1500!! The other dress was the same price, which made it harder to decide. The Marisa was closer to my initial description of what I was looking for. But my sister pointed out that the Lazaro definitely went with the French/wine country/vintage wedding theme we''re going for. Ultimately, we agreed that if people saw the Marisa, they might say "aww, that''s a pretty dress" but the Lazaro would have that "wow" factor (not to mention it was just such an amazing bargain!) So we decided then and there to buy it! Now I just have to suffer through seeing it hanging on the door of the 2nd bedroom for the next 10 months (or at least until I can start the fitting process).
I did start to 2nd guess myself a few times just b/c I wasn''t prepared to get something so soon (and, well, I''m just so indecisive to begin with
But I think/hope we made the right decision.
What do you guys think? (FYI, the dress is about 3 sizes too big for me right now so it isn''t as fitted as it hopefully will be after the alternations).
