I've been taking para educator classes in the city for three weeks, just got done today. Interviewed a couple weeks ago, checked in a couple times and finally learned today that I'll be working in the preschool with the Special Ed teacher! I was hoping to be in the elementary so I could be in the same school as my kids, but this is a foot in the door and a good start to the job so I'm all for it! I'm not sure how they decide where to put the para's, mom thinks it's b/c I'm little so they put me w/kids "my size"...when I had lunch w/London at school a couple months ago, I met them in the hall coming for lunch so London and I were holding hands in line w/her class and her teacher was getting ready to tell the 4th grader to get out of her class line and get back to her own class when she realized it was me!
So, anyway, I'm now a certified para educator and I'm employed! I'm pretty excited..nervous of course. Met some really fun people in class, and the instructor was a teacher from my town, so we rode together a few times and he told me different things about the school.
Tomorrow I have to go talk to Dr. and put my two weeks notice in..I feel bad about that, and jittery in a way too b/c I've worked there for almost 8 years..it's "comfortable" you know? Even tho it sucks most of the time and I'd rather chew off my own arm than work full time there, I already know the job. Being a para will be so new! I am hoping that being a mom will help also.
Just excited and had to share!!
