yup, like why even consider a rb stone with 64% depth?..tyty333|1332366609|3153748 said:I've been seeing this lately too. You can only help a person so much. I love the ones where "I'm working with a friend of a
friends brother...I'm sure he's giving me a good deal on a really good stone". Then we get the numbers on the stone and
we're like "what???
I think its just easier to stick with the stone they already have. I sure wish people would come here first before they put money
down on a stone.
I don't even KNOW about RB's and I knew THAT wasDancing Fire|1332369364|3153792 said:[ then there's one with a 66% table...![]()
exactly. Many times I find that my help and guidance has not helped at all.Clairitek said:Dancing Fire|1332356940|3153628 said:they come to PS and ask for opinion about a stone and members gave them their honest opinions then they still went ahead and buy the POS. i mean why ask for advise if you not gonna believe ?.

I've been spending more and more time in RT because I love science, a good deal, and helping people. So I've been trying to hone my skills by helping out in there more and reading. I had the SAME EXACT sentiment you do very recently. I feel bad getting frustrated by something that really doesn't affect my life but it is annoying to see people spend time helping someone who asks for help only to have them tell the helpers that, "Sorry, whatever, it's fine I'm just going to do it my way even though I acknowledge that you think its a big mistake."

I think we try because on forums, you already cut through 99% of everyone, and you get people that want to put in that extra % of effort. You haven't lost all the people who only want to think that they are the brightest and the best; and hence don't like being told to their face that they are making the wrong choices. But you'll get those people anywhere. Just ignore them and help the ones that want to be helped.
I think you hit the nail on the head in regards to the poster having already made a purchase and is only coming for confirmation of what a great job they did...ame said:I tend to think most of the people who argue it already bought it, can't return it and want to be told they didn't just totally get hosed. But I have had to stop looking at rt as much bec I gives me a permanent eye roll in too many cases.

yes Gypsy, you and I are the devils for telling the truth...Gypsy|1332388244|3154052 said:My feeling is that, yes there are always the ones that make you shake your head in frustration. But for everyone person that makes us feel that way, there is a lurker learning from that thread and making the right choice. A lot of times, even when I KNOW that the person posting is not going to listen, I WILL post more because I want the thread to have accurate information for others who might be watching and not posting.
And then there are success stories too. And those make everything worth it.

Haven't you been paying attention?
ALL diamonds are equally beautiful now.
Cut is only an opinion and all opinions are equal now.
Don't such be a hater.

Yes. As far as I'm concerned: if it's on Rocky Talky it's fair game. If it's on SMTB, well... that's different.

I read the entire thread and still do not know what "the POS" is.

i mean really...why even bother looking at a 64% depth stone...diamondseeker2006|1332506333|3155007 said:This is not the thing that makes me the most crazy. What bothers me the most are newer members giving bad advice to a poster!!! Then we have to step in and say....uh, no, that really is NOT a good stone!!! I think that is confusing to the newbies.
The depth thing bugs me, too. I don't know how many times I have said...you may as well drop your weight below a carat if you are getting a stone that faces up like a .90!!!!! Duh!!!!
Another often repeated one when they post a GIA VG (with like a 31 crown angle!): Start over with GIA excellent and then we can help you narrow those down.
