Months ago I posted about feeling unfulfilled in my current job, with no room for upward movement, and was considering medical school.

I've thought about it a LOT. I've discussed it with a great variety of people, considered some serious issues. Ultimately, it's not for me for a number of reasons.

But I am still going back to school! I've applied, pending supporting documents, and chosen my course. This degree, which will hopefully only take 2 years, will make me employable at a higher level, but with my same employer. Now the sky's the limit!

I'm very excited, but also nervous. My American undergrad degree came from a combo of two schools, both with about 800-1000 students. Small, private, liberal arts. This degree? On a campus of nearly 50,000 students. That's 4 times the size of the TOWN I grew up in, lol. :errrr:

But still, primary emotion is excitement. And impatience -- I won't find out if I receive an offer from the institution until January! Fingers crossed...

That is so exciting Justginger, congratulations on deciding what to do for your career...it's not easy! What will you be studying?

Congrats ginger!! Fingers crossed that offer comes in ASAP

I remember your med school thread. What have you decided on?

Congratulations on making a decision and taking steps to advance your career! I hope you get an offer from your school of choice. What will you be studying?

Sending dust your way!

I'm doing a BSc in laboratory medicine. I already have a BSc in bio/chem, but Australian requirements are VERY particular. In order to move up the ranks, I must have THIS degree from THIS institution.

I'm looking forward to school again - I've always been a total nerd and genuinely enjoy learning, especially in the medical science discipline.

Thank you for all of the good wishes and dust. There's a lot of power in PS dust! :wavey:

trying to remember: you're in the perth area?

:appl: good for you, just ginger!

Congratulations! :appl:

Decision made!! Well done! :appl: :wavey:

Hey, congratulations! Great future ahead & fun getting there! :wavey:

Congrats Ginger!! :wavey:

Wow, I admire you so much! Good for you for knowing you're destined for more and better things. Its a huge commitment to go back to school, and I don't hear any doubt at all in your posts. Based on your ability to pursue and find what you like with diamonds (hey, those skills are important!) I think you'll do very well :wink2: :wink2: . Congratulations!

Great news!!! I hope you hear soon that you are their next new student!! Congratulations and lots of dust your way - DUST DUST DUST!!!

YAY GINGER! I'm in the middle of applying for programs, too! It's such a long process :( I'm happy you're done with that part! Dust that you get into the program!!!

Congrats!!! I wish you the best of luck!

Good luck, Ginger! Fingers crossed!

Congratulations, JG! :appl: Enjoy your studies and being back in a campus environment! How long is the degree program?

Thanks to everyone for the encouragement and dust. :wavey: I am thankful to have so many supportive people in my life - especially my upper manager who will allow me to not only go part time, chop and change my hours every semester, but will also consult with the head of faculty to get me as much credit from my previous degree as possible. Thank goodness.

Beat of luck to you, Ginger! :appl:

Please remember me, when . . .

Good for you justginger!! I'm proud of you for going after what you want, even though it's a bit scary! Keeping my fingers crossed that you get everything you want out of this new path!

Wow, good for you, Ginger! This is so exciting!

I can't wait for your big celebratory thread in January when you share that YOU GOT IN!!!!

I think it's great that you put time and thought into deciding which was the best course of action to take. I hope this will pay off.

Congratulations!

I'm glad you've decided to make the changes you need to be happy and fulfilled. We all spend too many hours at work to be unhappy.

Thanks, guys - am wishing January would come around a bit quicker! :wink2:
