Okay, well after a long absence I have hit PS with a vengeance, now it's past 1am my time and I cannot sleep!!

Why?

Because my husband has put a huge chunk of change down on something at the local upmarket jewellers - a HOF something, I suspect - and I am INCREDIBLY nervous!!

Only three more sleeps to go!!

He's looking pretty confident. He keeps calling himself 'the mailman'! :sun:

I could lay bets on whatI think it might be... cannot believe he didn't let me shop for this!!!

Oh my gosh Lara, this is very exciting - and nerve-wracking! You've got me extremely curious as to what it could be!

well I'd lay money that it's a certain pendant - a very nice one - although i have only looked online *cough* and deliberately avoided the pendants when I visited the store *cough cough* to have a little lookey.

OF course, I have been fretting terribly about value yadda yadda, and also i like the feeling of customising and of course choosing upgradeable diamonds...the dealer i used for my sol was great, and i was hoping we could use him again.

but a quick shop's a good shop in the view of the MOH, so he did the job in about half an hour sometime before Christmas and has been paying regular installments ever since??!

I am in pain here...this is, after all, a big deal for us...

I'm sure I'll love it...
I'm sure I'll love it...
actually it's gorgeous (if it is what i think it is...)
why oh why am I worried about eking every grain of carat-weight out of this 'once in a lifetime' deal?

I know this is his way of clearing the way for a boat, for him.. as a next big purchase! haha - he's told me as such!!
I've told him I shall find him a boat! The ideal boat!
I will go down to the local dealer with the chequebook, give me half an hour, he's sorted.
HE doesn't seem to think that's a good idea.

Heheheh - oh, Lara! I love your boat notion. Tit for tat!

It is the eternal conundrum of gifts, though - the pleasure of the surprise vs. the knowledge that (as somebody who knows her own interests better than even the most caring loved one) you could have gotten a better deal.

As I'm getting older, though, I'm accepting that sometimes the wonderful experience is as or more valuable than eking out the full financial value. Whatever he chose, I'm sure it's going to be amazing - it sounds like he's confident betting a lot on that! I can't WAIT to see. :appl:

How exciting!

I'm a bit nervous about my DH buying jewelry for me to-but he's listened to me long enough and seen all the images here on ebay/PS/etc and me saying OHHHH LOOK HONEY! That I'm pretty confident he can buy for me and I'll love it :) In fact when we are talking to people he actually knows more than just the 4 C's LOL!

I'm sure you'll LOVE it and I can't wait to see it! Happy early birthday and welcome back to PS! I used to be redrose229 but I changed my SN so i do remember seeing you around :)

:appl: :appl:

Thanks for your kind thoughts, Circe!
and Vintage!

Oh well, what ever 'the mailman' plans to deliver, he will deliver!
:appl: :$$): :saint:   :wink2:

I gotta hit the hay. Three kids and a circus (literally!) tomorrow AM.

This is exciting - 3 more days you say? so January 13 and we can see the new bling?

What do you think it is - dare to post a photo of what you THINK you might be getting???

I too would be stressed about my DH making a significant jewelry purchase and not including me in the decision making process... but I'm 100% certain that would NEVER EVER happen. :nono: I'm too picky and he's not really 'into' jewelry, other than listening to me oogle over the PS treasures!

Come on... share your guess!!! (and tell us how the circus went!)

ahhhh! can't wait to see it :)

Well the circus and face-painting (an event held down our local shopping centre, outside on the grass) was awesome! I'm sunburned though.
Then it was off to see get an icecream and a photo with the Happy Feet penguin mascots...then...off to another shopping centre to see 'real SNOW'. The kids were beside themselves!! We made mini-snow-people. AWESOME.

I DO know what I think it is... but don't want to totally dis my man by guessing 'early' - it'd be like unwrapping the present? I DID think that for my 40th I'd like a fantastic RHR, but I think it's a pendant, on an 18''chain. And its name begins with F.

DON'T SAY IT OUT LOUD!! It was easy to guess by perusing the HOG website - he asked me (with a swagger) how 1.5c sounded?!
Then again: "Am I the Mailman, Baby? Don't I always deliver?' ppppphhhhhhhtttttt hahah

I'm thinking this is ctw, of course. ... and if it is what I think it is, it is really beautiful, a sparkle festival. I think I'll be keeping it...even though melee and pave and clusters and halos haven't really made their way into my personal brainspace until now. I've been a more solitaire type girl....until now.

Only a few days to go, I'll upload immediately. Am toying with the idea of taking the whole box down to the jewellers though, just to case the joint before finally 'relaxing'. I can't believe he deprived me of all the lovely shopping!

Maybe I'll have to save up for the RHR myself...but he might be furious if I dared do that. hard to say... can go either way with my MOH! ::)

How exciting to have something to look forward to! I love the "eternity" ring you posted on the other thread, classic, timeless.
I totally understand about having your husband pick something out, when you feel (know) you may be able to find a better deal. I think if my husband ever gets the itch (not that would ever happen) I would direct him to a local jeweler where I pretty much love everything they have, or send him bookmarks from things off the internet.

Anyways, enjoy! So nice to get something to wear that is an expression of his love.

Well it came! I'll upload pics soon!

Waiting.............waiting.................waiting!!!!
Need some pics!!!!! :)

Happy Birthday Lara!!

Now where are the pics?? :Up_to_something:

Sorry gals! ;(
The MOH (aka 'the mailman' haha) came home and dominated our 'computer viewing' position.
Now I have to rush out.
But I'll be back, I've taken the pics.
While I'm waiting for hubby to call ('get in the car' lol) I'll try and upload...

he did well! :appl:

Thank you, movie zombie.
It will take me a month to get my sleeping pattern straight! :snore:

HoF prices are enough to make you weep buckets for the carat-weight...but the earrings ARE indeed very pretty, and they are certainly well constructed. I will not think of the knuckle duster RHR I could have bought with the money... that will be a fairly involving project for another day. :D

and they look great on you, too!

I think they look amazingly beautiful on you -- and it's SO SWEET that it came from him & that he picked something that suited you so perfectly. It's not a crime to pay a little more for quality! ENJOY!!!!
