As many of you know, I recently was hired to a tenure track faculty position at a great university, which I will start in January of 2010 when I finish my maternity leave. The catch is that it is on the other side of the country, and so the relocation meant that my husband would need to find a new job. Not a fun prospect in this economy
. Unfortunately, although my husband''s present company is national, they don''t have an office in the region that we are moving to!
Well, slowly over the last few months he has been talking to people and making connections. He heard rumours through the grapevine that his company actually was looking for someone to do field work in the region where we will live, but we didn''t know how serious the possibility was because his company also has a hiring freeze right now.
Well we just found out today that his company is creating a position for him in the region where we are moving! I can''t even believe it! Not only does he not have to look for work, but the position is a promotion with higher pay and a company car!
This is just so wonderful. Now we can buy a house before we move
