My youngest daughter, Angela, is 19. She was in an excelerated program in high school where she attended the last two years at the local community college and earned dual credits. She graduated last spring from HS with her AA degree from the Community College with an emphasis in Arabic
Angela went off to college last fall to major in International Relations with an emphasis in Middle Eastern studies and Arabic. She was approached by her Dean about an opportunity to study abroad this summer. She found out a few months ago that she was selected by the State Department for a Critical Language Intensive Study program in Morocco this summer. She left yesterday to go to the orientation in DC, then she will fly out tomorrow for Morocco. She will spend the summer in Morocco, and was told that due to the nature of the program, she will pick up an extra year''s worth of Arabic language while there!!! She is required to speak only Arabic while in Morocco.
Anyway, I am just so dang proud of her! What an opportunity for a 19 year old kid! While she has traveled alone before, this is her frist trip abroad. I am so excited for her!!!
My baby is growing up! I can''t believe she will be starting her senior year of college when she gets back...
