I am so frizzy today/wedding yesterday

I do not remember when the last time we had a series of 90+ temperatures and a dew points of 76 [1st thing in the AM]. You can cut the air with a knife! And, my niece got married yesterday - outdoor wedding and no tent. They really had their act together - not!

Can you say thunderstorms? The wedding was in the White Mountains in NH. I am in southern NH now. The humidity reduces the wrinkles, though!

We all survived [as did my bag, makeup [kinda], and dress [jersey so no huge deal] because I was smart enough to get up to get a big umbrella]. My hair OTOH - finger in the socket all the way! LOL! Most other people were sitting around waiting for the ceremony to start saying "OMG, it's starting to rain." When I announced that I was going to the porch to get an umbrella my MIL asked "How come you get to stay dry?" I responded by saying that I get to stay dry because I'm getting up to get an umbrella. She was lucky that the umbrella was big so that she was a beneficiary of it in spite of her [?] comment. Most other guests had that drowned rat look!

oh boy...I remember my wedding day was the hottest day in July (98 degrees) and we had our ceremony outside. I told the priest to make this the shortest ceremony every. He was done in like 10 min..my guest were very happy (sweaty but happy).

LOL! The ceremony took less time than it took to get things started after everyone was seated. It was like they were waiting for a signal that never came! On my way to procuring my umbrella I told the ushers to get things moving. By the time I got back down they had started down the aisle. LOL! [I guess they needed an "elder" to tell them what to do!]

Was your reception in the A/C or at least in the shade? I hope so!

I tell you - northern NH in August = trouble. You can count on thunderstorms more often than not. I was mortified that they had set up outside for the ceremony [especially given the weather for the rehearsal dinner - massive thunderstorms and downpours - the night before and a forecast for worse weather the day of the wedding!] Go figure. The whole thing was waaaaaaay disorganized and strange. I was going to post about my mortification on Friday but decided to hold off. I was then going to do it while cooling my heels on Saturday

[don't ask] but I did not have access to a computer - that would have been quite a flame!

I guess that in the end, the bride and groom were happy so it can be construed to have been a success.

So - no negative comments from here.

I told DD that if she even thinks of getting married in August that I would . . . [you can fill in the rest]. She told me not to worry about August and she also told me that she wants a proper formal ceremony. I know how to do that kind of ceremony and party - good thing!

But man, is it humid - still - one can barely breathe! And you should see my hair. It looks like a shrub [and it is normally straight!].

I am sure the newlyweds are doing well, though, in spite of the weather!

OMG, Atroop! We got married in July too, and it was SOOOOO hot!!!

Our wedding was July 21, and it was inside, but the inn we got married in didn''t have central air . . . only window units. The window units did OK with just a few people, but with the 40 or so guests packed in there, it got TOASTY!!!

I had many clients getting married this past weekend. I just dont understand why getting married in the midst of the hottest moonth of the year. There is NOTHING alluring in being a sweaty bride! I got married in January! Though cold, it gives us a good excuse to go somewhere warm to celebrate our anniversaries...

I''m no fan of the outdoor wedding in the summer. Anywhere. You might have gorgeous weather, but 9 times out of 10 - - not.

Even without rain, you can almost always count on:

Wind
Humidity
Sweating
Flies

Nothing glamorous about any of the above. And guests hate dressing in their best and perspiring all over their expensive or dry clean only duds.

As a gal who would either have Bozo the Clown frizzies, or a hairsprayed helmet head due to humidity, I can certainly sympathize with the hair woes.

Blu, I feel your pain. I live on the Mississippi River, and have thick, rather course, curly hair by nature. To add insult to injury, I have entered that phase in a womans life where hormones play cruel tricks on a body, and it''s hair. I''m sure you get my drift.

However, there is hope on the horizon. The last time I had my hair appt., my gal, knowing the state of my poor head and the battle I face constantly, left a new creme rinse in while she trimmed my hair after washing, then rinsed it out. I then left, as blow drying my hair is NOT an option, ever, even with those thingies you put on the end so you can blow dry tempermental hair. I think it''s called a diffuser?

It was, a miracle. In fact, it was such a miracle, that most of the curl had left my head, which, was not such a good thing. However, there was NO frizz either. I think if I just used this quickly, like in and out immediately, I could look like a normal human being on those hot, huimid days. I didn''t even ask her what it was, as I was sure it wouldn''t work, nothing else has helped much. So I''m going back in tomorrow to get some, and if you''re interested, I can let you know what it is.

No kidding. And, don''t forget the mosquitoes [and the insect repellent which further ruins the clothes!]

The day before going up I tried on what I was planning to wear [linen palazzo pants with a flowy fitted silk top]. Good thing, too. I was so sticky [the A/C broke - what timing!], that I could barely zip the top. That was the end of that. I wound up wearing a long, sleeveless, deep scoop back jersey dress that is a bit too big. That was a very good move on my part. My hair OTOH . . . you can imagine!

No. frizz. It was like I had had a hair transplant. lol It actually felt, dare I say it, almost silky. That word and my hair have never been in the same sentence!

Ok, here's the scoop. Kinda funny, it was so new, she had truly just glanced at it when she used it on me. She "thought" it was the type of hair treatment you left in a bit, then rinsed out. It wasn't (it's a leave in), but it may be a good thing she did, or my hair might have gone totally straight! lol And I never saw it, she just said she had something new to try while washing my hair. So, it's not a creme rinse, it's an oil. And, she used way more than the several drops suggested (more like quarter size), so that most likely had something to do with the curl leaving.

I will link the site. Under Where To Buy, they have many listings for beauty supply places, but they don't have beauty shops, so you might want to ask yours if they can order it in, since that's where I got mine. I got a 4 oz bottle on sale for $25. Normally I think it's $50, not sure what the 2 oz runs for, and she forgot to write it down. Also, I can't get anything to come up under Products. But I know they make more than this one treatment. So I would suggest if you want more info, just contact them.

I will say, my hair did not feel greasy or heavy at all, and like I said, almost silky. So if I can have "normal" hair, it will be worth every penny.

I feel like new england brides sort of expect mild summer weather for outdoor weddings, but it can easily get very hot and humid. I got sunburned at an outdoor ceremony a couple of weeks ago and all fo the guests were dying of thirst! Fun wedding, though!

I had lunch with a friend today who''s in an outdoor wedding on MV this weekend. The bride is in tears over TS Danny. I feel bad for her!

I washed my hair tonight, squeezed out excess water, and massaged some in. I was trying to use as little as possible, but "several drops" was not going to cut it. My hair was too "dry", and I have a LOT of it. Still, I didn''t use near as much as my hair gal did. Finally got it worked through, and then left it while I washed my face. Then rinsed it quickly. I was affraid to overdo it, as I do want to retain my curl. So we''ll see.....

Not "totally" sure yet.

I didn''t mousse it last night, as I knew I would just mess it up sleeping on it. It''s definitely softer, hubby even noticed it. But I can''t really tell about the curl factor yet. I will be washing again today, and will use creme rinse and mousse. That will be the true test on how it affected the curl. Oh, and it''s rainy out, so the frizz test will be put to good use.

This is the current hot product in the salon I go to. My hairdresser used this liberally on me when the hub and I went to his best friend''s birthday party at a yacht club on a very humid day. I was very curly, but not at all frizzy.

When I want to blow dry my hair straight and I want it to stay straight even in humidity or light rain, I use Alterna''s Straightening Balm in the purpley plum colored tube. It does leave your hair with a coated feel to it, but you''ll be able to walk outside in misty weather and stay intact.

Truer words were never spoken. I told my husband in disgust the other day (after fighting my hair), people see my hair and think they want it. They have NO idea, and I always assure them, they don''t.

*sigh* Yes, and no. Thursday night was treatment. Friday morning I washed, moussed, scrunched, air dried. It was ok, but I actually had to touch up on the ends, and a tad on one side at the top with the curling iron (so using less didn''t really help). Kinda defeats the purpose... Then we went golfing, and it was doing fine riding around in the cart. Then it started misting, which was blowing on me every time he moved the cart. The curl fell, and frizzed out some. Not much on the top, where it can, more towards the bottom. Of course, I don''t know if anything would have helped at this point.

So it''s a catch 22, for me. Yes it gets rid of the frizz and makes my hair much softer, but it also loosens the curl more than I want. Not because it''s heavy, just relaxes things. I don''t know, my hair is just a PITA.
